I'm considering either of the mounts below. Does anyone have experience with either? Good? Bad? Indifferent? InfiniApps Slyde CD Slot Mount for Smartphones, Cradle-less Universal cell phone holder with Quick-snap technology, magnetic cell phone mount: Cell Phones & Accessories Mountek nGroove Snap Magnetic Vehicle Mount for Mobile Devices with Yellow Safety Sticker: GPS & Navigation

I have a Speck Candy Shell Grip case on my GS4. From what I've read, I think that placing the badge between the back of the phone and the case should work fine. Maybe.

I personally can highly recommend the iMagnet mount. I ordered one for myself, and already had ordered a 2nd one for my wife. It comes with 3 metal backplates for use within a case. The base is not just only a suction cup mount, but this gooey 3M material that sticks to just about anything on it's own - even the wall.

It's nice as all you need to do is wash it with warm water, and it's gooey again. Sticks to that textured dash material just fine. It's actually really hard to get loose from glass, as it sticks so well.

I work from home, so I use mine as a desk phone holder, and not have moved it in 3 months or so, and it's still in place. The magnet is even strong enough to hold my iPad mini on my desk if I want.

Works great with my UAG case on my S4. iMagnet Cradle-less Universal Phone Mount with Quick-snap Technology, One Hand Smartphone Car Windshield Dashboard Mount Holder for iPhone 4S/5, Galaxy S4/S3/S2, Blackberry Bold, Note 2, Android HTC One: Cell Phones & Accessories

I also use the iMagnet mount (which seems really similar to the InfiniApps mount you posted). I can't recommend the iMagnet more. It's really does work great. I have a slim bumper case and placed the metal plate between it and the back of the phone and it works great. I haven't had any issues with the phone slipping off the mount. It holds tight when you want it to and is easy to remove with one hand when you get out of the car. I imagine that the InfiniApps one is similar just by looking at it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I am not wanting a suction type device though. I would like to try the CD holder as a mount as I rarely if ever use the CD player.

yeah. that's what i assumed. I can't vouch for the CD player insert portion of the InfiniApps product, but assuming the magnet part is the same (and it looks very similar) i can say that part works great. Even thru my case.

Thanks. The ability of the magnet to hold through my case is my main concern. Any affect on the compass or gps?

I haven't seen any issues at all with GPS or compass or anything like that. I was a little worried that the metal plate and exposure to the magnet may screw up my wireless charging, but i haven't noticed anything strange there either. Everything seems to work great.

Thanks. I ordered the Infiniapps Slyde. We'll see how it works out.

After reading this thread and looking at the Slyde I ordered one too. I've been using the original Mountek CD mount. It works great but takes two hands to operate. I'm lazy and like how the Slyde looks a lot easier to attach.

They seem pretty much the same. But one reviewer had both and preferred the Infinia. Of course, if I had both to compare, I might choose otherwise. Price is about the same, but I was a bit put off by the cost of a .5mm card from Mountek at ~$15 shipped. Mountek said I might need that with my case.

FWIW, I emailed both companies with a question and received a prompt reply from each. Mountek responded first.

IAC, I am not interested in spending ~$45 for this mount, which is what the Mountek plus extra card would cost. If I can't make it work as is, I'll return it.

That's the great thing about buying from Amazon. I have never had a problem returning anything I've bought there that didn't work right for me.

I, too, have the original Mountek CD mount. It was great when it was state of the art. But, I think I will take a shot at the magnetic one.

All I have heard is that it may mess with NFC, which is a feature I don't see myself using.

I have had the infi app for a while and really like it. Easy on, easy off.

I received the InfiniApps Slyde a couple of days ago. The good news is that the magnet seems to hold my GS4 in the Speck CS Grip case just fine. The bad news is that the blades/tabs of the mount will not insert in either of my Honda vehicles. The tabs measure 2.9mm thick and are simply too thick to enter the slot.

InfiniApps says they have a version with thinner tabs, but I wonder why that is not specified in their specs or their website. I also wonder if the thin tab version has the rubberized coating on the tabs.

And the same question goes for Mountek too.

Anyone here have any luck mounting these in an OEM Honda CD slot?

And now I see that Mountek has a version 2 of the snap (magnetic) model out. Not sure how/if that would make a difference for my installation.

Rats. Thought I had a winner there.
