Even though T-mobile still offers the Even More Plus (non-contract) plan, a few weeks ago they decided to remove information regarding the plan from their website and now they direct interested customers to their in-store and telephone reps so they can explain how the plan works.

Has anyone tried to activate an EM+ plan recently? What was your experience dealing with T-mobile's sales reps? Did they try to steer you away from the EM+ plan, in favor of a contract plan?

When it comes to CSRs, being clueless is standard operating procedure for the mobile phone industry.

Which carrier are you with? Which plan do you have? How much are you paying monthly? And how much time do you have left on your contract?

$200-300 for an ETF is a lot of money. If you don't have much time remaining on your contract, it might be cheaper to ride it out and then make the switch to the EM+ plan.

:DYes the CSR was excellent and made sure to find the best plan for our family of 4, they actually proposed the Even More Plan even though they would be losing money, unlimited data, unlimited text, 3000 shared minutes, no roaming charges otherwise I would not have chosen them, Sprint's plans are decently priced because they do not have many phones here and we are not on a 3g network much less 4g, Evo users here suffer big time, kinda funny seeing them carrying a bag full of chargers and backup batteries lol, I had the Moment but now I understand why they called it that, it only lasted a Moment even with the update, Samsung refused to fix the hardware problem and CSR never followed through on anything,(phones were still under manufacturer's warranty) so they did a silent recall...some have been lucky but we were not one of them, CSR was terrible..., T-mo whooped their butts when they implemented full 3 and 4g, at first I thought it was bogus ,but turns out the carrier actually followed through for a change instead of offering empty promises and broken lies, Thanks T-mo, I have the Mytouch 4G, my husband 3g slide and the Charm and Optimus for the girls, all have great battery life and OMG I actually was able to see what an Android Phone could do lol, by the way The Charm is a touchscreen also, kinda like blackberry android, great phone, deserves a chance! fFor those of you who fear not having a back up Qwerty, 3G slide is awesome but let me tell you 4g virtual keyboard options are amazing! So no fears everybody, The OPTIMUS VIRTUAL KEYBOARD IS AWESOME AS WELL, Kudos to T-mo, please stick with the program ugghhhh lol:rolleyes: , 2.1 and 2.2 is fine by me!

Thank you for contributing but this post is asking for people's experience activating the "Even More Plus" plan, not the similarly titled "Even More" plan. The EM+ plan is a contract free plan that offers subscribers the same service as traditional plans but at a discounted monthly rate and no phone subsidy.

The benefit of the EM+ plan is that subscribers are not under contract and people who already own a phone, can pay a reduced monthly rate because the carrier does not have to charge a premium to recover the cost of subsidizing a phone. Furthermore, the savings from the lower monthly service fees allow the customer to recoup the cost of purchasing a new phone at full retail price. Over the course of 24 months, the total cost of purchasing a new phone with service on the EM+ plan will typically be less than the amount spent on a subsidized phone with a contract.

The EM+ plan typically benefits people on individual plans or family plans of 2-3 people. Since it only costs between $5-10 to add a person onto a family plan, once the total number of people reaches 4 or more, the subsidies offered by the contract plans outweigh any savings that the EM+ plan may offer.

In your case, the EM+ plan would not have benefited your family because you have a total of 4 people. I would agree that you found the best plan for your situation.

Just open a new account and be sure to visit the buildings you frequent, in the first few days. I still have reception issues at a few stores in my town, where I get "full bars" outside, in their respective parking lots. However the overall coverage in my "region" is pretty good (Philly/Balt/DC/NoVA corridor), and have only dropped 1-2 calls/data streams, while on the highway.

Phone plays a big factor as well, as I'm getting 1-2 bars more, on avg., with my Moto Defy, than I do with Nokia N900.
