I just got the Motorola Droid last week, and I love it. But I do have one problem with it. I've noticied that, and only when I'm in sunlight, when I take or make a call the screen goes off before I bring it to my ear and will stay off even when I pull it away to hang up. I have to wait for the other person to hang up and then slide out my keyboard to get the unlock screen to pop up. Inside however, there are no problems. Anyone else having this problem, and if so what did you do to fix it.? Technical said they don't know what's wrong with it, but I'm going to call them back after the holiday.

Also I noticied that my alarm occasionaly doesn't work. Is this normal? I did download a pay app alarm clock, but I don't know yet if it will work 100%.

I have the Motorola Droid for over 5-6 months now and haven't experienced any of the problems that your talking about. You might have defective device. The only thing I've found was that the gold paint or whatever on the camera button has flecked off completely... slightly disappointing but it doesn't take away from the rest of the device.

It sounds as though it has something to do with the light meter or proximity type sensor. I'm not too familiar with the Droid, but I've owned an LG Dare for a couple of years and had similar problems with the screen not lighting back up when I was trying to use the dial pad for tech service and bank service lines or on my voice mail. I think chaunceyd may be right. Some kind of defect....Bad luck dude.

Well seeing as how I have two days until the stores are open and plenty of time to kill, is there a trick with the light meter or proximty sensor I can try? I'm fairly new to touch screens and new to the droid so there are probably a bunch of tricks I will be stumbling upon in the future.
By the way, I've already tried auto brightness and manual brightness, and the screen protector and case aren't touching the sensors.

I just got a Moto droid a few days ago as well. Doing something similar with the phone. I found a short quick flip of the wrist rebrightens the screen.

I have the same problem with my Eris. It has to do with your shadow over the sensor. Brighter light casts a deeper shadow so it thinks you are still to your ear. Try making sure the area is wiped clean after each call. If that doesn't work let me know

Anyone know how to take songs off the playlist with deleting them from the sd card? I'm trying to make a special wong list for just exercise but Its picking up all my audio books too.

The best player I have used is ther Astro media player. Keeps your place and works great for books.
