Help anyone else's USB wall charger block make a high pitch sound

Was wondering if anyone elses does this. Its very faint but i notice it at night. When you unplug it it makes a oscilating noise then stops. This is with the cable plugged in and without. It is most definatley the block and not the phone. Im scared to plug it in to it now.

If anyone is willing to check yours for me you may need to bring it close to you to hear it.

yea, mine does the same thing. i noticed it right away when i first plugged it in. i stopped using it and just use the charger from my droid

YES ! Mine does... unbelievably high pitched noise... very annoying.

has anyone called VZW about this?? will they replace it ? If so is the replacement going to have the same problem?

My original wall wart charger was DOA so the local store swapped it out without hesitation. I will have to give it a listen when I get home.

The charger I got with my Nexus doesn't do it, but I have two cheap-o wall chargers that are fixed micro USB connectors (i.e. you don't plug a USB cable into them), and both of them make noise.

There is a switching power supply inside that steps the voltage down. They typically operate in the kHz range, and certainly can make a very light hum. This should only be evident by holding you ear up to it or something. If it's any louder, that could be the result of arcing, and I would have it replaced.

It's just a fluke of some of them... i posted in this thread weeks ago. around that time i took the thing into a verizon store. They just swapped it with one they had in a cabinet. The new one doesnt make the sound...

Although mine just started happening a couple days ago...When i walk into my bedroom in the evening i can hear it very well. I was not sure what it was actually until i saw the thread on here just now I had narrowed it down to my alarm clock on the charger.

I think all samsung chargers do that....and they charge slower

It's just a function of transformers. They all tend to make some noise, it's just often too high-pitched for adults to hear.

That said, I have noticed that the whistling is higher pitched occasionally, and I've noticed that just occasionally the phone detects the charger as USB. My battery notification says "Charging (USB)". Unplugging it and plugging it back in again stops the whistling, and changes it back to "Charging (AC)".

The whistling doesn't always disappear, but often gets quieter. It might be worth checking this, if the noise is particularly bad...

Mine does this as well, very irritating.
