I don't usually use it myself.
movies, youtube, downloading files (better signal)
Using it right now to Watch Soccer,
every time I set the phone down
better speaker volume than laying flat on the table (I stream last.fm all day at work)
Sling Mobile...when available.
I use it while watching youtube vids or listening to last.fm while making dinner/washing dishes.
You make it sound like it doubles as an antenna.
I use it mostly for watching Sprint TV since it frees my hands. I'm right now on the pc and watching the world cup. Without the kickstand i couldn't.
eating lunch at work with one hand, scrolling through web pages with the other while the kickstand props the phone up.
I bet we'll see why alot of case manufacturers just incorporate a kickstand into their cases for non kickstand phones.
Mexico just put it on France, even though that penalty call was kinda suspect lol.
I use it when charging my phone at work, watching football (soccer is an american word) and watching movies.
Yes.. EVO is new alarm clock, so kickstand works great on nightstand
Just to be clear it is not an antenna, but when the phone it standing up rather than laying on its back it is able to receive a better signal. This will usually increase speeds.
I wish the kick stand could have been centered,....but with the battery I guess that isn't possible.
I wish I could take credit for this idea, but someone somewhere posted on a thread about worrying about scratcing the lens or glass. They said "put it on the kickstand silly.
My standard practice now, protects the screen and lens!
it's actually not, it's a shortened form of association football... The term came from england in the late 1800's.
use it every time I sit my phone down
whyy.. BECAUSE I CAN!
speaking of that, is there any way to make the digital clock LARGER when in horizontal mode?
It's just added weight to me. I won't ever use it. Feels kinda unstable to me. Would never trust it really. Might be
ok on a plane, if I were ever to bother to watch a movie on a phone, doubtful tho.
added weight? the thing is a few ounces....
Wow yeah so you don't rest the phone on the camera lense
In the Engadget review, they mentioned the kickstand was good if only to prevent you from placing the phone on the lense when putting it down. I don't watch a lot of videos on the phone, but I have it propped up at work, so I get a better view of any notifications, and when I use it as an alarm clock.
I use it pretty often:
* Just this past weekend on both legs of a 3-hour return flight to watch movies
* Every night as an alarm clock I prop it up on the kickstand
* Using Qik video chat to my wife on her Evo
* Anytime I play music through the device (not using a head phone).
* On a speaker phone call.
Generally I use the kickstand whenever I am viewing something or listening without a headphone. It helps with the sound traveling better since the speaker is on the back and placing it flush on its back on a surface will cause you to lose some sound. Sometimes when playing music I'll even turn the screen away so I can the full effect of the speaker. I love the kickstand.
Speakerphone calls. Youtube browsing. Web browsing, while at a desk. Watching an ep of Doctor Who every day--whether I use it to prop it on my leg or on the armrest of a chair at the coffee shop, it's helpful. On the bus, I use it for much the same. In more regular usage, I usually flip it out if I have to operate the phone one-handedly--putting three fingers below it and one above it makes for an excellent and secure grip.
While holding the EVO in landscape mode with my left hand - I open the kickstand and let it rest between my index and middle finger. Gives me a kung-fu grip the EVO's big ass.
on my desk at work, sometimes at home.
