Anyone finding any brick and mortar stores that have this in stock today?
No, but indicators from employees say it could be a few days before they their next shipment in.
One reason we ran out so fast on launch day in our area: A VZ store sold all of them a day before the launch!
Supposedly a small authorized retailer near my is suppose to be getting some more in today. I'm holding my breath until I get a call about it. I have a feeling it was just the kid telling me one is coming so I don't buy it somewhere else and he loses the sale
I called a corporate store, the woman over the phone told me that they had 10 in stock, but when I got there, I dealt with the rudest customer service. apparently the woman i had spoke to had neglected to tell me that those 10 were reserved for business customers.
What is it with corporate stores and rude, pissant employees?
the stores here suck and because of things they say and do the customer care reps at the call centers catch the hell...I for one will never buy at another corprate store. I will walk in, and when asked to sign in simply tell them to get bent.. I am not buying I am just looking so I can order online.. online was so easy a lot more pleasant of an experience.
Well I thought I would just check my Verizon and they told me they sold out early yesterday but could order one for me. I said no thanks, I didn't want to tell them I already have one.
Checked with my friend who works at Verizon in Toms River, NJ. If you live near Central/South Jersey (Ocean County area), he says Manahawkin just got 20, and the Ocean County Mall store in Toms River has 15 left.
As of 12:50 PM EST that is.
I was in Walmart late last night and they had just got one in. Might be worth a shot looking there. Not sure if alot of people check there.
When I asked "Wow, you still have one, havent people been calling all day?"
She said "No, havent recieved one phone call about them"
i still have a best buy preorder available. It is at the bb in baldwin, long island in the state of new york.
Their shipment never came, and i never cancelled my spot. if any of you need it, im #2 at that location
Just picked one up at a non-corporate store. My advice would be to check non-corps first. My store had 3 left over from yesterday.
When I contacted verizon they checked the surrounding area and kept expanding their search till they located some.... After contacting the stores with multiple in stock I was able to find it just about an hour and twenty minutes away! Yessssssss.. So excited!
I'd check the small stores you think sold out. The one I went into to finally get mine had a guy in there that didnt understand how to put money in the billpay. I think I picked a good town to find droid x. lol
I picked one up at a Verizon reseller in Philly...they had two left.
I had my X die yesterday and took it to a Verizon store. After they couldn't get it working they called around and found a store in Quakertown, PA that had just received about a dozen that afternoon. Seems like some other stores had also received some shipments that afternoon. I headed to the second store and the CSR indicated that they still had all the phones from that afternoon's shipment. That was around 6:00 last night.
I called a few authorized retailers and they said they get a shipment in today. I hope so.
My local walmart has 2, the retail is $530. The local Wireless World stores are retailing them for $699...lol.
Glad to know I'm not the only one whose Droid X died already. I mean, I'm sorry for you and for me, but at least you already got yours replaced. I'm stuck until my replacement gets here from Verizon. I ordered online. I'll never get excited about a phone on release day again. This sucks!
Since they are saying 7/23 before more ship, and since that is on a Friday, I guess I will not have my phone now until 7/26 at the earliest.
Thanks again Verizon for putting out a phone your consumers can't get.
Stopped by my local corp. store yesterday and they were out of any and didn't know when they would get any more. They had 50 on release day.
Just out of curiosity, what went wrong with your phone? My screen started to scramble around noon yesterday as I was heading out of the office. I stopped by a store to have them look at it, but of course it started acting normal as soon as I pulled into the parking lot. It started up again around 4:00 and never came back. The CSR thought it was a software glitch. I knew that they were pretty much sold out and was prepared to be without it for a week.
The CSR and manger worked hard to find me another one. It may be worth it to call CS or stop in a store again to see if any other local stores received some surprise shipments yesterday or today. The CSR looked up stores in several zip codes and several were showing stock. The one I finally got a replacement from wasn't expecting it and no one had come in to buy one in several hours. You may just get lucky like I did.
I second checking Wal-Mart stores, especially those in dumpy neighborhoods, that's how I found mine on launch day. At 2PM on the 15th, the Wal-Mart I stopped at had one in and nobody had even asked about it.
Of course YMMV and all of that. Good luck!
My CSR said that means you should get it by 7/23. Not that it will ship on the 23rd. Hey, I'm trying to be positive here.
The store in my area that sold out on thur had more in on friday although the day before they told customers they wouldnt have any til next week glad i got the last one=)
I just went in to a Verizon store today and switched from AT&T and got the Droid X. Now we have to wait until they ship to us.
The CSR said their system shows they have 42,000 units in the warehouse, so the expected ship dates of the 26th/27th should really be sooner than that.
Here is to hoping it is sooner and if they do get a local shipment in he calls me to come in and pick one up.
I spoke to a vzw rep today in a store he told me moto has plenty of the Droid X just logical issues plus they ramped up production after the sales went thru the roof. They expect it to outsell the Dinc very soon. Also they have a ton of accessories in stock just no X's.
They don't have 42,000 units. Thats what they call virtual inventory but not too many customer service reps know that.
Their system was never designed to handle backorders. They tell the system they have phones (when they really don't) so they can continue to take orders. It's a workaround.
