Anyone have the 2.1 update.zip file?

Just curious if anyone has the 2.1 update.zip file? Looking to possibly go back and root my phone. If anyone could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks.

You want the stock 2.1 update.zip? There's a link to the SBF in the "All things root related" thread. You can flash that with RSD.

Try looking at the first stickied post in this forum by Trident. http://androidforums.com/motorola-d...l-android-2-2-froyo-update-motrola-droid.html

Then scroll down to the 3d post. Trident has done an excellent job of getting this set up so you can either do it from your phone or computer. I would recommend downloading the .zip on wifi thou.

never mind I thought you ment 2.2. I am a jarhead and can't read. Just go to the all things root froum and they will help you from there.

yea its a pain. I just reworked it and its easier to do while not losing data.


To the op you gotta be a little more specific. Do you mean the official OTA to go from 2.0.1 to 2.1 or the official OTA to go from 2.1 to 2.2?

I am wanting to have 2.1 on my Droid again
Reason being because I installed the 2.2 OTA and would like to go back to 2.1 so I can root. As far as using RSDLite, I can't because I use a Mac.

So to clarify, would just installing the 2.1 update.zip take me back to 2.1 or not, and if so does anyone have the file?

Theres a link but I do not think it will work. Probably going to need to find a friend with a windows pc you can use.

Are you trying to go from 2.2 to 2.1?** Oops, just re-read the thread, ignore that question.

The rooting process seems to be close to the same as with 2.1. Is there a really easy way to root 2.1 that I'm not aware of?

Well I really appreciate the 2.1 update.zip file, but it didn't work. Came up as installation aborted. Guess if I want to root the phone gonna have to go the long root.
