I'm not trying to do anything special with Premiere at all. All I'm trying to do is slow down the video so that I can watch the oscillations of something and calculate the frequency at which they are occurring.

However, I'm rather confused about how the time bar works.

    Let's say the time says:

    00:23:18:03

The first set (00) is hours, the second (23) is minutes, the third (18) is seconds, but what is the fourth? I thought it was milliseconds, but it resets at 23 (i.e. it goes to the next second).

My guess is that the fourth set of numbers is the frame. The framerate under video properties says 23.97 FPS:

    Type: AVI Movie
    File Size: 482.5 MB
    Image Size: 720 x 480
    Pixel Depth: 720
    Frame Rate: 23.97
Source Audio Format: 44100 Hz - 16 bit - Stereo
Project Audio Format: 48000 Hz - 32 bit floating point - Stereo
    Total Duration: 00;30;40;24
Average Data Rate: 268 KB / second
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 0.9

Am I right that the fourth number is the frame I'm on (1-23) and not the time in milliseconds?? I just need to be sure otherwise my calculations are going to be all off.

    Thanks

Sounds interesting. I *might* be getting a copy of adobe master collection cs4. Depends on how it goes through the "proper channels". That has premiere, if I end up with premiere, ill let you know.

That last number is frames, someone confirmed that for me (which is a huge relief, because my calculations were a complete mess and now they're making sense).

    :D
