Anyone know where the icons for the installed apps are located?Support

    Trying to find the gmail and the regular email icons for the stock programs installed on the nexus one are. Anyone know where they are located or have a source? Thanks.

    funny guy. obvious not the answer to my question. i need to find the actual icon. It's on the phone in a folder some where, i just can't seem to locate it. anyone want to help?

    I believe they are located within the .apk themselves. I could be wrong on this, but I seem to remember that. Also, IIRC, and .apk is just a .zip file with a different extension...


    yep...I just checked the gdocs .apk. opened it with winrar, and the icon (.png file) is in the /res/drawable folder.

    gmail apk is in /system/app

    but I don't see the icon in there...but I am browsing from my phone...so who knows...it is probably somewhere in the apk though.

    Not sure why you want to know this, but there is a map pack of them in the market. You need something like bettercut to open them though.

    As far as I know, you can only access that folder when your phone is rooted
    (..but i might be wrong), which I am thinking of doing soon...and then you can even edit your widget icons. (with bettercut you cannot)
