There are paid apps that can do it, but not free apps, unless you want to upload your Word and Excel docs to Google Docs and use the free GDocs app.

I'm just curious, not trying to offend; but, who would ever want to edit Excel spreadsheets on his phone? That would be incredibly arduous I would think.

If one wants to edit office apps like that, he should bring the laptop :)

As a new member I am also looking for a program to edit word and excel files. Even if they are not free does anyone have experience or recommendations. By the way, some of us don't have the luxury of packing a laptop.
    Thanks!

I use DocumentToGo. You can create, edit, and view MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and even PDF docs.

It is on sale right now for $9.99 until December. Can't remember the exact date. It's great considering the original price is $29.99.

I was actually able to complete a PPT presentation for one of my classes.

Also think about downloading Scan2PDF Mobile (lite version has a watermark, paid version doesn't). I used it to scan charts from my text book, and using DocumentsToGo I was able to insert those charts into my ppt.

Both of these apps integrate well with eachother.
