    Hello everyone,

Today, I finally released my first serious application for Android. Fractal Explorer allows you to explore Mandelbrot fractal and discover amazing patterns.

    Features:
    - zoom up to 2^42 scale
    - 11 color schemes to choose from
    - high quality, smooth coloring
    - 2 rendering modes: low quality for exploring (very fast rendering) and high quality for presenting full glory of the fractal
    - innovative, easy to use Glass Pane interface
    - generating fractal wallpaper
    - save the cool places you find for later
    - 12 predefined Cool Places to get you started
    - uses native code for improved performance
    - makes use of the capabilities of Cortex A8 based processors to achieve x4 faster rendering speed.

At the moment, I think this is the only such application that can make use of the power of Cortex A8 CPUs (those found on Droid/Milestone, Nexus One, Galaxy S and numerous other phones). And believe me, the difference in speed is very noticeable. My Milestone running at 550 MHz and using optimized code beats HTC Desire (1 GHz) running ordinary native code.

Feel free to comment and make suggestions, I'll be happy to hear them.

    Cheers

    Hi,
I used the app and created a very nice wallpaper but didn't save to 'my cool place'. Where can I find the wallpaper picture so that I can use it another time even if some other app changes the wallpaper?

Love the app, makes really great pictures and is much faster that other fractal apps.

    Hi,

Glad to hear that you like the app.

You can use "Wallpaper set and save" application (Wallpaper Set And Save - Android app on AppBrain) available on Android Market. I tried it on my Milestone and it worked fine.

If this app won't solve your problem then let me know what phone you're using and maybe I'll be able to help.

Or, if you are using rooted phone then just copy this file (it's either jpg or png, not sure):
    Code (Text):
    1. /data/data/com.android.settings/files/wallpaper
BTW, next version (planned for next month) will have the ability to save wallpapers to memory card (among other things).

    Hope this helps,
    Cheers

It's been a long time since the initial release, but I finally pushed out a major update to Fractal Explorer (v2.0.0), which brings:
    - control over depth of fractal rendering
    - control over coloring methods
    - functionality to create your own color schemes
    - saving of generated wallpapers
    - high quality mode
    - multi-core rendering (this should make Tegra 3 users happy)
    - refreshed UI, support for landscape orientation and few other tweaks

Unfortunately, support for old Android versions and low end CPU has been dropped.

    "My brain's melting"
"I thought it was trivial at first. I'm sorry..."
    "My eyes are bleeding"
"No, no , no, I'm sure I've chosen the right one"
    - say brave souls who kept playing Reflexis

Reflexis is a simple reflex game that challenges your ability to recognize shapes in a timely manner. Sounds easy? Everybody can tell the difference between different shapes, you say? Well, let Reflexis challenge your brain power and reflexes. It will force you to really focus on the task. Your reflexes, hand-eye coordination and focusing skills are gonna be tested and brought to their limits.

Reflexis incorporates online leaderboards, achievements and cloud save.
