For anyone looking to expand on the use of the build in NFC App, I've written an application that uses NFC tags to automate tasks (both a UI to build and write the tags as well as the read/execute portion).

It is freely available over at XDA (ad-free) as well as a paid version in the Market (if you wish to support the development - all support is appreciated).
[APP] NFC Task Launcher - 1.1 Released - xda-developers

Launch features are as follows:

Launch Features:
- Enable/Disable/Toggle Wifi
- Enable/Disable/Toggle Bluetooth
- Connect to Known AP
- Configure and Connect to new AP
- Launching Applications
- Configure and Enable Portable Hotspot
- Launching of Tasker Tasks (if Tasker is installed and configured)

We're working hard to make the NFC functionality of the Nexus S more useful for people (especially those of us US based) and hope this is helpful.

New Additions:

Added support for changing Ringtone
Added support for changing Ring Mode (Normal/Silent/Vibrate)

If there's something you'd like to see added feel free to comment here or stop by XDA-Developers.
