I have WiFi home network with the Remote HDD that any PC in my home can share info on. I use these HDD to store movies, music and photos so it can be reached from any laptop or PC at home. My question is if there is any apps or any other ways to be able to "map" these network drives on to the Droid Incredible?

I don't use it myself, but try looking at VPN. It should do what you want.

No, on share the file explorer can't use other apps for "service" like picture viewing. It' an android thing.

What you see is the file explorer's build-in media player.

    I haven't tried this, but...

Seeing as how Android is Lixux-based, if you can set up your home drive as a network file share, then you could mount it as, say, "/sdcard/homedir" on your phone. You can do this using the terminal (command line) but may require root if you want to make changes to the fstab.

It'd be nice to be able to play a folder of songs over LAN.

Thats one app that I remember and miss from my Symbian days, SymSMB. It could explore and play a folder of songs.

I'm able to access shares on my network using Astro file manager and the new SMB plugin they put out recently.
