Apps moved to external storage... where is data stored?

Hello folks,

For apps moved to external storage... where is data stored? When an app is moved to an external SD card, is all the related data and cache also stored on the external storage? Or is it still kept internally? I'm running out of internal storage so i want to try an cover all my bases on how to free up more internal room. Running Titanium Backup, I can see some of my apps have a lot of data associated with it and I'm not sure if it is using internal storage even if the app has been moved to external.

I found some related threads but the answer wasn't clear for me so I wanted to ask. Hope folks do not mind.

Unless running a custom ROM with data to SD scripts all data will be on the data partition regardless off app location.
