When I go to advance task killer free it shows applications running that I did not start. Yet, after killing all these apps they show right back up next time I open Advanced Task Killer Free.

    Anyone know what causes this?

mine is doing the same. i am having trouble figuring it out and also the best way for the settings, because it was causing my phone to keep restarting whenever i killed all apps.

Set the kill level to safe, frequency to on screen close and security level to med or high.

Let the phone boot and after a couple minutes open APK and ignore the apps you want running. The phone should take care of itself past that. To save battery I do not ignore twitroyd and imeasy..those are program I want to manually kill since they are battery drainers when running for more control over my battery.

I use Handcent instead of messages and even though the messages app is not set to receive it still shows up after killing it. My friend said that is how Android/Linux is..just because an app shows running in the background does not mean it is using any battery, although some do..not all do

Task Killer on safe helps some, but the items continue to reopen even after closing. I am not sure why applications open even though I have not actually ran the apps. Is this just a product of Android? It just seems to be a bit sluggish on my captivate when there are a large amount of applications running.

What kind of apps? Apps that are trying to check for email and you keep shutting them down? Apps don't just run in the background unless they're downloading some data. They're paused when they're not on the screen and don't affect your phone. Have you tried not using the task killer?

Don't bother dicking around with the auto-starting apps. Seriously. Let them be, they aren't using CPU cycles and unless badly coded, they don't drain your battery.

    Task killers are bad.

Stop the OCD. If you have apps eating your battery then address the apps themselves. Task killers are just a band-aid solution and a great way for newbies to cause more problems for themselves.
