Since rooting and using custom roms, I've been using the apps2sd facility the this offers, however:-

If I want to install certain apps to the phone memory rather than my SD card, is it possible to do this at all? I've not yet been given the option of doing this at all.

No, I don't think it's possible to be selective about where apps end up.

Well, unless you install them to /systen/app via adb. I think that might work, but don't quote me on that :p

Well, this is the one area then that Android should take a leaf out of Symbian's book - as on Symbian you can choose where to install apps.

Ah well, that's the only area I can think of as Android owns Symbian in pretty much every other respect.
