    My apologies if this post is in the wrong thread.

    I live in the Netherlands. I wonder if it's possible to chat with someone who lives in say, the USA through Google Talk or WhatsApp Messenger.

    I ask this, because I have a few friends living there who I can't send text messages to, due to international networks and such. So I'm wondering if I can chat with them, if they have Google Talk or WhatsApp, like I do.

    Any chat client you use over data will be free to talk to whoever you want no matter what country they are in.

    kik messenger and pingchat use data rather than sms I think. meeboIM lets you sign in to msn, aim, facebook and more all at once and sends as data too.
