Are apps lost when carriers change?

HI gang - my first post

After 11 years I finally upgraded my Motorola i90c and bought a Samsung Exhibit 2 4G (used of course) and has 2.3.6 now and a data plan. I finally left Sprint and am using a monthly prepaid service.

What data is lost when you change carriers?
So I got a new sim card and ported my number and want to know if I will lose all the bloatware tmobile provided?
Also will I lose some of the other apps I like when I swap the sim card in my Samsung phone?

I already exported my contacts to the SD Card to hopefully import to the new card. I already used app2sd to move all the allowable apps over to my SD card. Just looking to be prepared as to what to expect when I insert the new sim card. Any chance some of these apps will be retained on the 2gb built in (usb) storage?

Also assuming GrooveIP lite will still have all the contacts?

    Thanks for any replies,
    Paul

Nope nothing will be lost if all you're doing is swapping SIM cards.

He's not just swapping SIM cards though. He said he got a new phone... so I would expect some loss considering you're moving from non-Android to Android, correct?

What I don't know is if non-android apps will actually work on the Android OS. Your best bet is to look at the names of the what you want to keep and hope you can find it or a version of it on the Android market.

FallnShadw is right, it depends if those apps are even android capable, if they aren't then you could probably find some replacements on the app store, and even then you can backup everything with a gmail account now so this problem will never happen again :D

I don't think his question has anything to do with moving phones. His question was moving from Sprint to a prepaid one.

The first sentence states that he upgraded from a Motorola i90c to a Samsung Exhibit 2 4G.

    Hi gang,

    Sorry for the confusion.
I already ditched the Motorola and there was not really anything to transfer. So I upgraded the phone about a month ago to the Samsung on the $30 tmobile plan. Great to finally upgrade to a smartphone and get it all set up.
And now I am going to change again from tmobile.

So no I am not changing phones this time just carriers and plans.

Doesn't all the bloatware come from tmobile? or samsung?

So if I unlock this phone now and change the sim card doesn't the bloatware go away? Or would I still have to root the phone to get rid of it?

If you unlock the phone you can get rid of all the bloatware, yes.

And depending on your carrier, will depend on whether there is bloatware, if you bought the phone straight from Samsung, i would be surprised if there was any on there.

Edit: re Read your post, and my response is now " null " lol....as far as bloatware, browse to the forum for your new device and look in all root section for a bloatware safe to remove guide.

TMO has its fair share of bloat.
