I upgraded to 2.1 last Friday and have been very happy. No issues thus far. Being an early adopter, I wonder if there any later versions then what I down loaded last week. Of course, I should think about leaving well enought alone - I have a working Eris with 2.1.

i know there is another thread but is there like that many problems with 2.1 or should i just put it on my phone tonight and be done with it? seems to be somewhat flawless in the video's but like what really doesn't work? do we have one big list of everything that will not work? if we created one that would be nice b/c if it's just stupid shit or app's i wouldn't even use then shit why do i not have 2.1 on my phone already? also, when you go to 2.1 do you get to keep your contacts or do they get wiped out?

They all seem to have the same MD5 hash: BD6B08D32948022C865C79DCC61AE449

    So they're identical.

I thought it had been posted that there were differences in the quality of the data from one server to another. I thought somebody pointed that out and recommended a certain server as the best. Caddyman? Not sure.

I believe if you download it and it has the same MD5 hash, it's identical to what everyone else is using. If the MD5 hash is different, then it might have been corrupted while downloading. I recommend using Microsoft's command-line tool for checking the MD5 hash:

From what I remember reading in prior threads there are two baseband versions out.
One being 2.41.04.02.02 and the other bring 2.41.04.02.02, not sure this is true or not, but I got the .04 version.

    You did.

Looks like some might have gotten the .04 version, though. So you should compare with those who got the .04 version and see if your version, the .04 version, has any similarities.

I'll bet it turns out the .04 version is the best. But the .04 version could be better. We'll see.

I actually disagree with OTD nailing it on the head. Here's my case.

I discovered this a while ago while installing the original Swype (or not).

When I download the .apk file from my Windows XP Pro web browser, dragged it onto my SD card of my phone, and tried to install, I'd get that there was a problem trying to Parse the installer package.

Okay. So I browse to the site with my phone's web browser, downloaded the file directly with my phone, and opened it up. No problem installing.

    What?

I drag the freshly downloaded file from my phone to my computer. I check the md5. EXACTLY THE SAME.

Baffling? I can repeat this experiment again and again and again. Different web browsers. Different SD cards. Same result.

Something is different when you use Windows to download it, it seems. I have 100% success with .APK files and other things on my phone, but strange problems when using any version of things from the computer.

As a computer technician, I have NO good explanation for this. None, whatsoever. Files, same size, same hash. One works. One fails to parse. I have to imagine that something along the same lines might be possible with the 2.1 image.

I downloaded it straight to the phone for my gf's Eris, and had little problem (other than the known 'bugs' like Facebook Syncing). Perhaps others with more vast problems have downloaded it on the computer, then dragged it to the SD card?

Can anyone confirm NOT being on the .04 version? I will check the gf's tomorrow.

Was downloaded from mediafire.com/whateverwhatever from the first stickied thread.

I'm .04, and not sure that there is anyone with a different number.

Are you sure that your computer isn't auto unzipping? People who's computer auto unzipped had some problems. Also, there might be something weird with your computer. **shrugs** I had no problem with the one I downloaded on my computer.
