Are there "hidden" themes with "hotspots?"

Does Android have any home pages/themes that are minimalist and offer hotspots?

Essentially, the home page contains things that you can see and things you cannot see.......

What you can see - a user defined wallpaper and a minimal amount of information in a few select spots on the phone (time/date/# bars/remaining battery life)

What you cannot see - hotspots underneath the wallpaper that allow you to launch applications (without actually seeing the application icons on the screen/wallpaper)

For those of you familiar with the BB Storm I found it very cool to have the screen broken into quadrants that allow a theme builder/developer to give the user the ability to embed different applications in different quadrants and launch an application without having the home page "cluttered" (although others would call seeing the icons "sexiness").
