    Is anyone, other than me, having a tough time deciding whether to keep or return the EPIC? I have never been in a love/hate relationship with a device before. Coming from a Blackberry Curve - I absolutely LOVE the things that this device In fact - I'm waiting for a new app "This thing runs rings around my Blackberry".

    The 2 issues I'm having are (what I consider) extrordinarily bad battery life - and the funky GPS issues.

    I'm plannning to get Innocell 3200mAh Extended Life Battery For use with Samsung Epic 4G and hope that it comes with a backpack to lug it around in. LOL My concern is that - with as much as I like to putz around with it - I'm going to have battery issues with any Android device.

    The only question - IF I return it - and go back to the Curve - I assume that I get my upgrade back?

    I personally bought a spare battery off of ebay a couple weeks before I even bought this phone. I knew I'd need it. I use my phone like a laptop. Also the time without service bug drains battery like crazy so you must remember to toggle airplane mode on and off after each boot up as that corrects the problem

    Is there any harm in leaving it on a charger all night? Since I tend to use it as an alarm clock - what I try to do is charge it before bed - and (when I remember) put it in airplane mode overnight - but - I don't always remember - and when I don't - there's a decent amount of battery drain.

    Ive thought about returning it more than once, weird thing is, I haven't had any issues with it. I think the phone is fantastic but something makes me want to send it back.

    The only other phone that I would even want right now is an iPhone 4. but Im not going back to at&t for it..

    not a phone in sprints lineup comparable to epic or id consider switching ... only bcuz this ****in keyboard issue ... id swap it again but many ppl have the issue im afraid id get another one with issue and my luck id get a battery monster

    im telling all of you, buy switch pro widget and your battery woes go out the door! i only use my 3g connection when i know im going to use the web. if not i turn it off. you do not need it on to send sms or make calls. you can set up all your toggles how you want. i will snap shot it in a couple minutes. but once you turn off 3g when not using it you will save a ton of battery life.

    I'm in the same boat as Pablo.station

    I've had no problems with the phone, it has been fanastic. Yet, I have this urge to return it. It may have something to do with the impending release of the Nikon D7000, I think the extra $250 would lessen the dent left by that purchase... plus it would make the purchase of a new lens just a bit easier.

    I would be going back to a Samsung Moment, that may sound dreadful to others, but I have never had any problems with my Moment.

    that dreary tiny screen and slowness of the UI after dealing with the Epic? Have fun with that. I didn't really have issues with mine, but compared to the Epic it's a dog. I couldn't go back to it. I'd activate my Pre again before I activated the Moment. Though I'd use it over wifi for DocstoGo.

    To the OP---Its this same question makes me happy I cant upgrade till this december. Maybe by then the bugs will be fixed. I had the 1st gen Instink and now the Slowment and I told my self I would NEVER get another Samsung phone again. Then the friggen EPIC comes out and getting pretty good reviews. Damn you Samsung.

    well if it helps, i've had the evo for about 32 days now and it is amazing. the battery is amazing because of the task killer i have and i downloaded one of the music players from the market and i can now play avi files on the evo! and while it is pretty big, the kickstand comes in handy a looooot and it has a premium feel to it!

    Yes it's got a few bugs - we were all prepared for that, right? We all knew it was a first release and there would be issues. Samsung/Sprint has already put out an OTA update (that DIDN'T brick my phone) to address some of the issues. This should put to rest the naysayers about Samsung support.

    This is their flagship phone. Sprint is charging a premium to use it. Of course they know there's issues. Of course they will fix them. In the meantime, the phone is 100% usable (for me, YMMV).

    Even though the Moment is now 2.1? Was thinking that would be the phone for my 17 year old when we upgrade to our Epics. After putting it side by side with the Intercept, it seemed faster to me and the one in the store was still on 1.5.

    And why I don't own a PC. Most of you probable are not aware that there is a recent known glitch with certain Google accounts that will affect your ability to download from the Android market. Because I tried to fix this problem with a hard restart at first, not knowing what the problem was, I lost all of my apps, and can not download them again, unless I set up a new Google account. Couple problems with setting up a new Google account, one, you can't sync or merge your existing Google calender with the new account. Which means re-doing a whole new calender. And two, you can not bring in your existing gmail account, without re-introducing the download glitch. Sprint can't help, they don't support Android apps. Samsung can't help, they didn't design the software. And I'm not aware that Google has a support line. So I'm not sure I want to get stuck for the next two years, owning a mini PC, that's been pieced together by several manufactures. Problem is, I don't want to go back to AT&T, with their limited data plans. Nor am I a fan of the iPhone 4's glass sandwich design.

    The other problem is, now that I've had a chance to try a smart phone, going back to using a flip phone is not an option either. I have 10 more days left to figure it out though.

    Having the 150k cap limit issue as well on my epic. Wish sprint would just say they know that there is a problem and there shouldnt be a cap and a fix is on the way. this is pretty much a deal breaker for me. For us upgraders who are stuck with sprint, can we take the epic back and pick up the evo and start the 30day counter over? That way if sprint comes out with a fix we could come back to the epic?

    I have not had one thought about returning this phone! I am loving it. Which is a big thing for me because I can always find something wrong with a phone. Usually lots and lots of things. This phone does everything I need it to do!

    I'm curious about leaving in the charger too. I always left my BB in the charger and it wasn't a problem, but the epic states, "charge complete, remove from charger" or something like that. Anyway know if it will harm the phone leaving it in?

    You willing to sell your Moment?? I'm looking at getting the Moment, no 4G in my area and probably wont have it for a long time.

    Having 4G or not is not and should not be a major consideration in whether or not to buy a Sprint 4G phone. They are so far superior to prior offerings that they are worthwhile in their own right, 4G or not (which you won't use that often regardless).

    it's the best mini-netbook, excuse me, smartphone i've ever owned....

    ;)

    the web browsing (dolphin hd), movie watching (without having to encode!), gps (no, i have no issues), docs to go, youtube, camera/video recording, tons of games that play great on it, tons of apps for it....and the keyboard, yes i use it all the time...

    as for any battery issues, i haven't seen any, but juicedefender is a fantastic application and prob has a lot to do with that...

    I tried the Evo first. It felt like more of a step down from my iPhone 4. Swapped it for the Epic and I'm happy now... and I have a great phone that I can actually make and receive calls on. ;)

    No regrets whatsoever, and no thoughts of returning it. The app support is better than on WebOS, the screen is much bigger than my Pre, and the battery life is at least as good, possibly a bit better. My wife took my pre to replace a Samsung Rant, which was a step up for her, and she's happy as well - the Epic is just too large for her.
