Astrid auto backups out of control

For those using Astrid: selecting auto backup in settings is supposed to make one per day. But I'm getting several per day. Just this morning it made 8 in 2 hours. Are backups generated every time I make or edit a task? I have emailed the dev, but it doesn't look like they answer individual support questions. Anyone have a clue about this?

As far as I know, mine syncs everytime I edit a task.

I guess that would explain it then. I'll just do manual backups than. Thanks.
