ASTRO file manager is a must have for navigating your Android Phone. The experience is very similar to a Windows type file explorer. It's necessary to have something that will allow you to access the SD card and phone memory at the root level to be able to edit, view, delete, copy, and paste items with ease. ASTRO also includes free support for bluetooth file transfer and has several tools also included with the download. One of my favorite features is the application backup tool, and the SD card usage tool. These allow you to back up all of your favorite apps, and see how much information is being used on your device with ease. They also include a application/process manager, but I have found that ATK or Advanced Task Manager are better separate programs for this function. Although, ASTRO having everything combined for free can't be beat.
