[AT&T] HTC One X question

So, I'm getting the One X next week, and I've got a question regarding the non-removable battery(overall, stupid). Right now, and for the past couple years, I've had a Captivate. It has this problem where every once in awhile it will turn off and freeze completely, not a big deal I'd just remove the battery. I don't remember if it did this while stock, or if it started after I flashed CM7(and later CM10)to it. I know for sure it does it with both 7 and 10. My question is; will I have this problem with the HTC? I more than likely will be flashing CM10 onto it, does anybody think CM is the problem? Or is it the phone? Also, if the HTC were to do this, what the hell would I do? It seems like a huge gamble to me, I mean I hear of phones going wrong all the time and the only advice people can give out for certain situations is "take out the battery."

So basically my question would be, if something happened and I needed to do a hard reset how would I go about doing that with a phone in which the battery doesn't come out?

    Thank you.

    welcome to the forums!!!!!!!!!!
i moved you to the one x root forum.

as far as if cm7 was the cause of your phone freezing or not is hard to say. i have had htc's og evo with cm7 and never had any issues. i am currently on htc's evo lte along with cm10 and again i have no problems.

my phone too has a non removable battery as well. and to get around it, htc has aloud us to do a "battery pull" by holding down the power button for 10 sec and iy will reboot. so you should never have any issues like that.

i can't say anything though for your phone and cm10, since i do not have it. hopefully some peeps here can fill you in on that.

The 10 second power button press works in all circumstances, in a bootloop, when the phone is totally unresponsive etc.

CM10 is still in the nightly stages for the One X at the moment, but it has come on in leaps and bounds of late and is relatively stable. Battery life isn't amazing, but it's not awful either.

I haven't had the a freezing issue with my HTC One X. I have used several custom ROMs and am now running Android Revolution HD 17 which is as smooth as a ROM can get. If there are any issues, though, as said above, you can hold the power button for 10 seconds and it'll reboot.

Thank you all for your help. I was worried that if it froze up I'd have to send it in or something stupid. I guess the owner's manual probably says something about the battery pull, so if I was patient I probably would've read about it lol.

Also, that sucks there's not a stable release for the One X yet. It's understandable, with everything their team is doing not to mention the trouble they're going through at the moment.

I've only used stable releases before, since Captivate seems to be one of the first few to get one. Can anybody recommend another rom that's stable on the One X? I've only tried CM and AOKP, and I prefer CM though I only used AOKP for a few days before I switched back. AOKP doesn't seem to support HTC phones at all as of now. Though, I don't know all the different device codenames, so I could very well be wrong.

Also, sorry but I've got a lot of questions lol, I noticed this was placed under the international version, do these things still apply to the ATT version? Because I've got ATT so that's the one I'll be getting. Thank you again.

My favorite ROMs are Team Venom's Viper and Android Revolution HD 17. You cannot go wrong with either of them. ARHD17 is basically the stock Jelly Bean ROM with a few performance tweaks, whereas Viper has a few additional visual tweaks like quicksettings shortcuts in the drawer, its own theme (red viper theme), and such. They have both been extremely stable for me, and I am only changing between them because I'm silly like that. Haha!

Moved to the AT&T Section. :)

My comments on CM related to the international, Tegra 3 variant. Checking out the CM website, it looks as though you have a stable version: CyanogenMod Downloads

BTW, your device is codenamed the Evita, the International version is called the Endeavour or the Endeavouru.

    Thank you :)

Hmm. From what I see, the One XL is the international version of the AT&T One X... Which is just dumb in my opinion.. But I guess it doesn't really matter lol. It reminds me of how AT&T renamed the Galaxy S to Captivate.. I think they do it just to **** with people and make it harder for a regular person to do what they want to do with their own phones.

But, are you sure the One XL version of CM will work with the One X? It is technically a different phone.. Though, everything that matters is still the same. I mean, I'm pretty sure it will, but I really don't want to take a chance of putting the wrong version on it and screwing it up. Though, I did look, and you're correct on the codename so.. I'm just not THAT experienced in this stuff. I've only had the one Android phone(Captivate)and it was ridiculously easy to do because it's such a popular phone.

Anyways, thank you very much everyone for all your help.

The XL is the AT&T Variant, the International version is just the One X.

That article is slightly misleading. Unless it's the Sprint variant, the EVO 4G LTE, any of the versions with a 4g radio and the S4 chip are referred to as the XL.

If you check the development forums over at xda and the Cyanogen download site, they refer to the AT&T Evita as the XL. :)

That's completely ridiculous lol(I mean the whole naming thing, not you). Hell, even AT&T calls it the One X(HTC One X - Gray cell phone from AT&T). I think we should start throwing things at anybody who wants to put out the same phone under different names. Or maybe make them listen to nothing but Barbie Girl for the rest of their lives. :)

It is what it is unfortunately. You should see how many different names for different carriers Samsung has for the Galaxy S2.

Anyway, if you look up ROMs for the XL, you'll be fine. If you're not sure, post and we'll keep you right.

    Cool. Thanks. :)

Also, since there's a stable release of CM10 for the XL, I guess this thread is resolved.
