I finally stumbled upon a tool that I've been hoping to find. The app is called App List, it's free on the Market. All it does is simply create a .txt file on your sdcard that generates a list of all of the apps installed on your DROID. YES! I threw mine in an Excel spreadsheet so I can organize by app type, etc... I just think it's cool to have a list of your apps for future reference.

    Holy Moses Joe,

I always thought you were just embelishing a bit when you said 150 apps....

What would be great is an app that scanned for app updates in the market....the one thing about rooting and flashing roms is loosing the automatice updates for apps.

I rarely "embellish". When I do, I let on that I am. ;)

There already is. It's called aTrackDog. You're welcome. :p

It doesn't seem to be a complete list for me. At first I thought it was missing apps not installed through the market because sweeter home isn't listed, but then swype is listed which I installed the same way.

Ahh, nevermind it's there. I missed it scanning the list on my phone. Found it searching the txt file on my computer.

On another note....I had never used atrackdog before. It can output a list of applications on the phone as well. It includes the version number along side each one while app list doesn't.

Holy crap! Good catch! Between the two apps (App List AND aTrackDog), I have a detailed app list including the name, version, and .apk name. Cool!

wow, everytime I thought for sure the end of the list was just below the page I was wrong, it just kept going. My droid peed its pants then ran and hid, I hope you are proud of yourself Joe

Oh i think I have you pegged, and it is funny. It's just when I see lyrics to a song, that song starts playing in it's entirety in my head. And a song that bad makes me mad to have to listen to. And I just don't want to be mad at you.

A very simple solution to never losing an app you have installed is Titanium Backup.

The key feature it provides is the ability to back up all apps, including config data and marketplace links.

So you can restore apps and they will be properly linked in marketplace so you'll continue to get update notifications. Other backup tools I've tried lack that crucial marketplace linkage in their backup/restore capability.

An important part (the most important part, IMHO) of a good app tracking/backup plan.

Thanks, Joe. Applist was just what I needed right now. Backing up my old Droid now. Got the new Droid sitting next to it waiting to be fired up.

Edit: Just counted. I'm at 107 apps right now.

never counted installed apps- too tedious.

    aTrackdog counted 'em fine though.

When using atrackdog if you didn't get an app from market how do you update them if it only gives you an option for market download ie sholesupdater...

I love the instructions on App List. "So to save your applist just hit the HUGE button and it will freeze... THIS IS GOOD!"

Only reason I DL'd aTrackDog was to count my apps. I have 81. Now I don't have to backup my apps in Astro just to count how many is installed.

Thanks for the heads up Joe.
