+1...I never listen to music on my Droid for this reason. Although, once summer rolls around, I will probably plug it into my car stereo when the top is down. :)

as a normal guy who likes to enjoy music how he enjoys it, i just LOVE how wrapped up you seemed to be in telling everyone you're a sound engineer. we get it, and we don't appreciate whatever technical side of sound engineering you do. we want to modify the sound like we want.

your disdain for "end-users" makes you look douchey, fwiw

I am sure all the developers will incorporate this into their ROMS though :)

the word "douchey" wasn't meant to be applied to your "argument," it's how you yourself come across.

and what argument? ppl are in this thread seeking info on a feature they want, which btw is a basic feature in most mp3 players, and even many non-music phones. you bust up in here all like "i'm a SOUND ENGINEER and i like the lack of EQ, so you guys are all dumb! k bye!"

i see from your posts you may in fact know alot about android platform or apps or something, but you're being a douche on this subject. your sound eng background is no defense for the lack of a feature many people want.

sorry and honestly no offense, but take a sec and think about how you're acting like you know better than others about something they enjoy

OK...may I clarify. I will set the 'EQ' to off when in my car (top down, summertime...I pick my music that way). When listening with headphones, I'll adjust the 'EQ' portion, but not the effects. I don't like any other effects. Like it or not, the Droid is deficient in the LFE...unless my old ears just can't hear it anymore. ;)

My understanding is that the droid is capable of good sound now, but soon to be GREAT sound! Im a semi audiophile so I like to get the best quality that I can. I was really into the DVD audio and Super Audio CD's when they were alive. Unfortunately, portability won over quality, so the MP3 did them out. Quality actually got worse for the sake of portability. The Iphone and the Droid both have docks so the signal of the music does not go through the DAC on your mobile device, it just sends the data to whatever your plugging into. This way you can use the DAC on your $10,000 stereo system to decode the music. This is why the media docks are great! You don't get the poor sound people are talking about. This is good, but its still an MP3 that is not lossless and still at 16 bit or less (DVD audio and Super audio CD's are at 24 bit). Looks like the quality of the DVD audio and Super audio might be coming back in a different format.

    FLAC
FLAC - Free Lossless Audio Codec

Looks like it might come to the droid, so we can get up to 24 bit lossless music on our droids!

Moral of the story, if you want good music from the droid, you have to send the music through the USB port not the 3.5mm jack.

I know, this doesn't help people using headphones at all. Sorry.

I think I spoke too soon.

I don't have the media dock, and I ASSumed that it did the same things as the ipod docks do. I thought there would have been a digital "out" from the dock that you can plug into a digital "in" on your stereo. Doesn't look like there is one though.

Anyone know of a way to get the digital out from the droid to a home stereo (no bluetooth)

listening on my headphones, some of my music sounds flat. so i'd like to have the option to adjust audio affects to my liking. i'm hoping that with 2.1, they'll include this or make it possible. Currently with our 2.0.1, without changes to how the audiomanager handles postprocessing, it cant happen.
