    That is a nice web site. Such passion from the creator over the $10.
    I agree that its pretty crappy to charge me more money every month to have my EVO connect at the same speed that my hero connects at. I dont see how my data experience will be any richer if i am still getting 600kbs on a bigger screen.

    You know i do actually think i will use more data though. I think the faster processor will make web sites load faster and that will make me more likely to use the web on the phone. Also the 4.3 inch screen will make web viewing more desirable. It may make my 7 year old enjoy sprint tv even more also. So even though i think the fee is crap i do think i will use more data with this phone.

    Are people as passionate about how at&t charges iphone users 30 per month for 3g access when many people dont have 3G? I dont really remember hearing as much about this outrage. The verizon maps commercials really shed light on at&t's 3g coverage in the US. Imagine maying 30 per month for 3g and you are stuck on the Edge network.....ouch.

    looked at the chicago map... its a decent chunk.. whats funny though is that fox lake and surrounding area got a tower or 2... its kinda stix nowhere.. (although it also is kinda richie richie area)... better for me though, 4g test is only an hour away :D

    Even MORE threads about this $10 fee? Nothing anyone can do and it seems like no one can be happy with all the complaints of the extra $10... It makes sense why. This is getting old of how many threads are about the $10.

    I just think it is really dumb how Sprint is actually handling this fee. They really have no idea what to say about it. They look like a bunch of morons!

    It is very simple.....New 4G palns.....Any upcoming 4G capable phone will need to be on our new 4G plans starting at $79.99. Done!

    Although I am very interested to see if this fee will only stick with the Evo. What is Sprints intentions with there next 4G phone? Will it not require the $10 fee because it might have a smaller screen or no front facing camera?

    I am more curious to see how they are going to handle that.....That will tell us if we are truly paying for a 4G capable phone or the 4.3" screen.....

    I never really complain about small fees if its something that Is going to benefit me. However, a $10 fee for something that can't be used in NYC for a while is pretty ridiculous. I think Sprint is going to regret this one, especially it the phone does not live up to the hype. I luv a lot of things about the EVO, and $10 is not going to rain on my parade, however a laggy phone will. I expect data speeds to be on par with Verizon and the incredible, as well as offer pretty good voice quality. If that can be delivered, I'm all game, and 4G will make it to the party at some point down the road this year. If not, Sprint gets the middle finger and a thumbs down, and the incredible will keep me busy for a while. Hope it all works out, that screen sick!

    I think it's a bit defeatist to just say "nothing anyone can do". Actually, public dissent can make a difference especially if enough main stream news outlets pan Sprint for doing it.

    I'm willing to pay the fee to get the phone anyway, but that in no way means that I like it or don't mind it.

    I actually don't mind these people who actively complain about it. Especially if it could lead to me paying less down the road. Sure they can always just not get the phone or go to another carrier if they "really" hate the fee. Also, Sprint can charge the fee if they want and they're still cheaper than the competition even with the fee. However, I really don't understand the angst some people have against other people who actively dissent against a corporation. Sprint is just an corporate entity bent on making as much money as possible for the service they provide. That's not a knock on it, that's just the way it is. That's what corporations do. There's nothing personal about any of this. It's all just business. So I don't get the people who actually go out of their way to suppress other people who dissent against a corporation. I guess if they're concerned about making things worse for them in terms of causing prices to rise even higher and faster. Or maybe in this specific case they see it as raining on the Evo parade. I don't know.

    For me the annoying part is people trying to dictate what a company charges for its service..

    I agree 1000% the fee should have been handled better.. But to try to dictate how much a company charges for its service boggles my mind..

    If he thinks the fee is unreasonable do not buy the product..

    Does he have the right to complain? he sure does as loud as he wants as much as Sprint has the right to charge additional fees for its service..

    It's called the cost of doing business which is passed on to the consumer

    Gas went up 5 cents a gallon here this morning, my car does not go faster, get more mph gallon and the station did not explain to me what the increase was for..

    Should I go in to the gas station and question the manager, owner and start a website against the gas company for the price increase??

    I chose to buy the gas with no additional benefit except for the fact I wanted the gas and they were selling it..

    This is America you have choices and so do the companies that conduct business here..

    Sprint and Clearwire have spent and will continue to spend billions on service expansion and upgrades, so why do they not have the right to recoup those costs?

    Here is the explanation for him. Sprint raised its price for service on this device and he can either pay it or don't..

    The annoying part for me is you can tell a person "Ok, well don't get the evo then" and they say "Well I really want it am going to get it". Well you aren't sticking it to sprint by bitching then buying the product. And you definitely aren't going to do much by complaining on the internet.

    This guy at least seems to have Sprint's ear about it, which is the best thing people can do - let THEM know, not US.

    I'd prefer not having to pay this $10 extra a month. But in the end, this is still by-far the cheapest plan for me. I also think the site owner doesn't get it - like the iPhone, this device just requires an exclusive plan, 4G or not. This will sell like crazy, putting a lot of people on the 3G band.

    I think Sprint should be commended for having such cheap plans and phones. I think it's wrong to go at them this way - it's best to make a site about AT&T or Verizon. You can't be too harsh to someone that's giving you a great deal in the first place. The Evo for $199 on contract is effing cheap.

    I'm glad he's doing this. Keeping the pressure on Sprint may change their policy.

    I hope they listen to their customers in regards to FAIRLY charging for services.

    Cost of Evo 4g Premium Data Charge - $10 per month x 12= $120

    Cost to create domain= 10$ - 20$

    Time spent maintaining domain= 2 hours a day x 7 days= 14 hours per week x 52 = 728 hr. per year.
    or 30 minutes per day x 7 days = 3hrs. 30 minutes per week x 52 = 171 hr. per week

    Amount of money made if time were spent at a part time job at the federal minimum wage = $1,239- $5,278

    Creating a webpage about a 10 dollar fee you don't have to pay, when you could be actually making money that far exceeds the $10 a month charge with the time spent on your "outrage"?.....priceless

    To the people who do not understand why I'm doing it, please allow me to explain..

    I haven't been "done wrong" by Dan Hesse or Sprint. I'm actually with them on a family plan (4 lines) and love my plan.

    I originally questioned the fee, since I was aware that Dan Hesse stated that 4G would be free. I asked Sprint for an explanation through email and was unhappy with their canned responses.

    I felt that I had the spare time (currently getting ready for my first child) so in between putting furniture together and painting, I would put together a wordpress site. No, I'm not managing it for the insane amount of hours. It's the weekend, and again.. it's my spare time.

    When I started to get emails supporting me and saying that they wanted to know the reason behind the fee as well, it caused me to do more. I contacted Sprint's PR departments, I commented on some of their official documents.

    I created a twitter account/facebook page and just trying to let Sprint know that, hey.. other people are aware of this.

    I'm not crying over the $10. I have the money to pay for it, but my only question was simple.

    What is "Premium Data"?

    I spoke with Sprint for over 2 hours and they couldn't answer my questions. They referred me from rep, to supervisor and then to a manager.

    I asked them the following question:
    You state that the "Premium Data" charge is not for the 3G nor 4G network, and that the charge is for the phone features. Why is it that all of the "Premium Data" features are listed as technical specifications of the HTC EVO 4G phone? If I were to take this phone to a non-Sprint area, such as the south pole, would those "Premium Data" features work, such as the 4.3" screen, HD Camera/Camcorder, faster processor, and even kickstand? Would I be able to use these features in Airplane mode?

    The $10 Premium Data add-on is being explained as the ability to take advantage of the cameras, the processor, the 4.3" touchscreen. Those features alone are said to bring a better experience to customers even on the 3G network.

    But, aren't those features of the phone? What does my $10 a month give me in addition to those features? I understand that it allows me to stream video online, but can't I do that through WiFi, and not even use Sprint's network?

    If a customer uses this device in a 3G area, what "bonus" do they get for this $10 charge? If I'm able to use all of those features in airplane mode, or WiFi mode, or in a non-Sprint area, how can you state that those are features specifically related to the "Premium Data"?

    Can you please.. explain the fee?

    That's it.. that's what they couldn't answer.



    Sorry for the long post, but I'm just trying to shed some light into "my" thinking. I know that everyone has their own opinions, and I respect them. I have the right to voice my thoughts, and you have your rights to say you don't agree.

    I am asking everyone though, if you do care about the cause, please post on facebook, or follow me on twitter, or even digg the page. I'm not generating any revenue from this site and I've already put money into the domain/hosting from my own pocket. I'm just asking for help.

    Dan Hesse never said that it would be free.. This has been repeated countless times and is incorrect..

    It is simply a matter of interpretation of what he said.. For some reason some people heard that 4g-Wimax was going to be free and I heard differently..

    Obviously I heard correctly because its costing us 10 bucks more a month or Dan Hesse is a liar..

    Either way it is 10 dollars more a month..


    Who the hell introduces a newer and faster service that no one else provides for FREE??

    The really funny part about this is....wait for it....wait for it... my employee discount went from 30% to 40% off in the last 2 days. So now I am paying 75 bucks a month with 10 dollar fee for 2 evos.

    Anyway, like I've said; Sprint does so much that makes them a better value carrier than any other. To make this tidbit an outrage is grasping for straws. They need this breathing room from going to insane low prices in order to get new costumers, to then offering amazing services while gaining and keeping said customers.

    Once they start charging the same and introducing limitations found in other carriers, then I would be all about that site.
