I could use some help with my Rezound on this question. I looked at similar posts, none explain it directly, but if I missed one, please point it out so we don't repeat ourselves!

I would love to be able to keep "mobile data" on, but have "background data" off, but then my email apps (official Yahoo mail app, and official Gmail app) don't like that, and Yahoo puts a little icon on my status bar saying to "enable background data". That stupid thing only goes away when I enable background data (more battery) or shut off the Yahoo mail app, neither is a good option to me.

I don't like the stock email app, just FYI, so I don't use it. I currently just turn off all data when I'm not using my phone, and my battery lasts a long time. I like this benefit, but I can't get emails without opening the app, and certain things won't work, when it would be nice if they would.

I am not logged on to ANY social networks of any kind with my phone.

Really, my question is, what settings should I enable to allow my battery to last almost as long as shutting off data, but still allow things to refresh themselves every hour or so? My Yahoo and Gmail apps don't have the ability to schedule refreshes. Do I need an app do to this, such as tasker or extended controls? I hate to buy an app, never had to do it yet in over a year and a half of my OG Droid, now the Rezound.

Oh, please don't ask me to root, not ready right now. I am not convinced of stable ICS Roms, and I'm not using a GB based Rom, not worth it to me.

Also, what is the difference between "always on mobile data" and "background data"?

I don't have an answer for you but I just got a Rezound and I'm trying to figure out some of this stuff too.

When people say "turn off GPS", which GPS are they talking about? When I go into GPS there are 3 different ones...VZW Location Services, Standalone GPS Services, and Google Location Services. Do all of these drain about the same amount of battery? I just need to make sure whatever battery-saving tips I try will not effect my Gmail or Gmail Talk syncing.

Will unchecking "background data" interfere with my syncing of Gmail and Gmail Talk?

Email won't sync if you turn off background data. As far as GPS, I turned them all off, and the only one that seems to matter is the standalone one. I go to add widgets, htc widgets, and select the GPS one and keep that on my home screen. I use it only for maps, navigation, or searching in yellow pages or anything that needs your location (such as finding the nearest Starbucks, searching by my location). When I'm done with what I'm using it for, I shut it back off.

Yes it does. I saw this a while back but couldn't remember where, thanks very much!
