Does anybody know if there is a widget out there that turns off "background data"?

The Sync option from power control only turns on/off auto sync.

Add widget > settings > mobile network.

I have this widget already but it doesn't turn off the background data option.

Can't see any on the market either (none that specifically are for this anyway). For now I'm using an app called Sync Settings which gets me to the "accounts and sync" screen with just one press on the home screen.

As a noob to Android (& this forum), what is background data? I've got the 'Power Control' widget on a home screen that quickly lets me turn WiFi on & off, and I can turn off 3G via the on/off button.

Are they enough to prevent background data download? Thanks in advance.

No, background data can be turned off via the Settings>Accounts and Sync screen. I'm new to android myself and it is used for certain things to work such as the Market app but I just noticed my data usage going up with it on.
