I went to bed last night with the battery showing half charged.

I went ahead and turned the phone completely off. (Held the power button down until the box came up and chose power off.) I did not plug it in to cahrge though.

Next morning I turned the phone back on. It showed the white evo 4g screen and sprint screen. After it finished this I seen the batter was red then it said phone is turning off low battery and then shut itself off.

How does this phone lose the rest of it's charged turned off?

    Anyonr else have this happen?

Maybe it didn't shut down all the way. Then ran out of power then shut its self down.

I know it shut down fully.

After the screen went off I tapped the poer button to see if the unlock screen would come on.

There have been reports (mine included) that it can take several minutes to reboot after powering off. The speculation is that Android isn't fully shutting down, though the screen is off and the phone otherwise appears off. This may be what happened. I never have the patience to go past a few minutes waiting for it to power back on and thus always end up pulling the battery. Now, I just kill all apps before I'm going to shut down and that usually allows me to reboot within a minute or so.

Try killing everything prior to your next shut down and see if it happens again.

Yea, this is what I said. It didn't shut down all the way. Just because the screen is black doesn't mean the phone is off.

Exactly, though a few minutes I could understand, I guess. All night however would be concerning.

Sorry if you took my comment wrong.

But like I said I hit the power button and the lock screen did not show back up like normal. So therefore I figured it was completely powered down.

The other poster just provided more info about the subject with articles.

Ok let me get this straight, you turned off the phone by press + hold the power button and then selecting turn off phone (or w/e the menu option is). Then you pressed the power button again to check if the lock screen would come up....doesn't pressing the power button again turn on the phone?

There is a delay when you press the power button to the phone turning on.

    Oh snap.

I thought you had to hold the power button for like 2 or 3 seconds for it to boot back on. That was how my Instinct was.

I also had it on silence so I never heard it power back on.

Sorry about this thread. New to the Evo
