I just got my droid X, I've noticed that I get around 24hours max before I have to charger.

I got the phone yesterday, I had to charge it at 8 P.M. last night, by the morning I'd lost around 20% of the battery. By the time I got home at 3 PM my battery was at 15%.

I didn't use it heavily, set to battery saver, 15% screen brightness. GPS, and wifi are off. The only thing I can maybe say is that I don't believe I always have 3g at my house, I also have 0-2 bars of reception most of the time.

Is this a problem with my phone, or battery? Or am I just not using some secret settings.

I also don't use live wallpapers.

Your problem is 0-2 bars of reception most of the time. If you have WiFi at home, use it and watch the difference in batt life!

Naw we don't have wifi, is there nothing else I can do? Would shutting it off at night be a bad thing?

Not at all. I turn mine off every night and charge it up for the next day.

Are you turning off wifi and gps when not in use because of the droid x battery drain bug? Hopefullt the update will fix this. The last part of the workaround, though, is when done charging unplug phone and reboot. If phone is off when charging you may have to start it up, unplug, and reboot.

If you have a poor signal, try updating PRLs by dialing *228

Get rid of any unneeded widgets and apps that run on startup. Dial *#*#4636#*#* to identify battery hogs. Don't use a task killer. Don't use antivirus.

I'm getting ridiculously low battery life. I turn off wifi, bluetooth and GPS all the time. After I unplug it, I lose 10% per hour even if not in use. I'm in an urban area with strong signal strength (los angeles). I have the brightness turned down to 10% too. The only thing drawing power is the facebook and gmail updates. Spent 30 mins on 1 phone call and battery life dropped 30% (after a full charge).

I'm at the point where I'm charging it every hour since even using it for 10 mins causes the life to drop another 20%.

list up all of your apps - some are known battery hogs
also, how often does your phone check for email?
install Spare Parts and see what is using your battery

I was experiencing the same issue. In my case a new battery solved the problem. Now I get roughly 14 hours. You may want to try the same if all else fails.
