I just wanted to share my positive experience with the EVO after all the negative junk that has gone on around here.

I have to say, the battery life on this thing has surprised me to say the least. Coming from a Palm Pre, I was assuming I would get similar if not worse battery life with the Evo...I was wrong! With the Pre it was a struggle to make it through a long day, and forget about using it late night/early morning if I didn't make it home till 3am-ish...

My EVO's battery lasts forever. The idle battery consumption on this is a million times better than the Pre's. My Pre would go down 4-5% per hour of no usage. My EVO is going down 1%(if that) per hour of no usage, and 2% with light usage. I've had my phone off the charger for 18 hours now and am at 70% and that is with texting, light web browsing, downloading a few apps, facebook, etc.

    This thing is amazing. :D

I unplugged my phone an hour ago from the charger and I had 4G on for a few minutes, surfed a few pages, and am now at 86%. THERE IS A BATTERY ISSUE. Heck, with all the radios off I went from 100% to almost 90% in minutes.

I concur. Battery life is way acceptable. About the only time I'veh had any issue is when I've played Robo Defense too long.

    Calibrate your battery!

2 hours off the charger for me, and I'm at 90% after surfing some web, receiving emails, WiFi on but not connected, and some texting.

Right, like a small icon a the top corner is true indication of battery. Mine drops from 100% to 90% within a few minutes, but that's just because of voltage levels inside the battery. It'll make up for it in the end. Maybe your 30% to 20% will feel double as long as someone else

just to let you know, that is not the norm. are you connected to wifi all day? i know that takes less juice than 3G. my phone lasts about 10 hrs with light use. not complaining, but 18 hrs and 70% left is unbelievable.

I do not think it is a hardware battery issue, this is due to software that runs the battery, but we as a forum and group are still trying to figure out what it is

I was going to make this identical post. Coming from a Palm Pre. My idle usage on both is actually fine. But it's more the moderate and just general use that is better. I'm in Chicagoland and made the same trip downtown by train that I did with the Pre and intentionally just tried to use it in the same manner as I have before. With the Pre, over a 6 hour period of on-and-off use, I would usually end up with 30% or less battery, sometimes running out. Did this yesterday with Evo and ended up right at 50% for the same use.

I'm sure there are phones that have better battery and my only real comparison is the Pre, but my experience is this battery is much much better than the Pre.

Just a little of my experience. The 1st day I brought the phone to work I thought I was going to die with how the battery was draining. I went from 100% to 76% in less than 2 hours. I then played around with all the update settings. I turned off the stock app. Pretty much all of them but the fb one. I even turned the gmail sync off and only get a sync when I go to it. I'm not sure if that is what changed it or if breaking the battery in did it but about a week later and my battery is running great now. For instance left at 7:30am with 100%. Now at 10am I'm at 90% and that's with the gps turned on the whole time. I can live with this.

I average about 30 hours on a charge down to 5%. And I use it pretty heavily, lots of browsing, texting, lots of music/video, etc...

In 3 minutes, of the power that was used the boxing game used 87% of that power. It's relative to the power consumed.

In contrast your android system, cell standby, and wifi used very little.

is this what I heard sprint doing for some of the evo owners complaining about battery life? what exactly are the steps involved, or is it just plug it in and do a hard reset?

*off topics but before i do that i want to sync my contacts with my gmail account, havent had luck in the past doing it tho

My battery blows. Get about 4 hours maybe with moderate use. Very disappointed. I've done most of the tricks just tied of trying I really shouldn't have to turn off every feature etc. hopeful that a new batch will fix this and the screen problem.

I did this last night and it has made a major difference on my battery life. Just make sure you backup your information using Lookout or Titanium Backup (both are available in the market). Then go to menu> settings> privacy> factory data reset.
