so basically turn off, or reduce everything that is good or handy for this phone?
No....If you read the thread it says, these are tips to conserve battery.
All of these things help conserve battery, because people are worried and complaining about it.
anyone know the best place (cheapest place) to buy an extended battery
My biggest boost was from changing twitter and facebook to poll every 4 hours instead of every hour.
good tips, but i like my brightness to 75%. Also, how do you turn off the vibration when pressing icons or such?
simple but settings - display - set screen to sleep every 15-30 secs.
Settings>Sounds and Display>audible touch tones-off, haptic feedback-off
Dont know if it will work, but I will be trying this once mine comes in.
tip-trick-After 61-hours on Evo -24% battery-remaining
I was wondering how the battery is on the EVO. I was talking to a Sprint rep earlier and she told me they are telling people to expect four hours of battery life with normal use. Seriously? 4 hours?
What have you EVO owners found?
I have 5 hours of use so far today and the phone still has like 25% left.
It was fully charged at 11 when i went to work, came home around 4 and it still had a good amount left on it. Charged it for..15 mins, and went away till the present time of 12:42. According to my battery widget it has 13% left. I also used sprints navigation for about two hours..so yeah.
As soon as I turned 4G off the battery started performing well, especially considering how large the display is. If you are using it for 4 continuous hours, then yeah, you will burn through a lot of the battery. I'm not sure what you get on your Moment, but 4 hours is pretty standard for a smart phone.
I have wi-fi/gps/4g/etc turned off and its lasted me maybe 4 or 5 hours and still prob have 25% left... that being said it seems to be draining pretty quickly right now. Not sure why :/
Check out the battery meter under settings, it breaks down the battery life. Once I installed and used advance task killer, my battery life went from like 5 hours to 10 hours, with 4g.
Depending on signal I'd say 4 - 5 hours of constant use. About the same as most devices.
I charged mine to 100% around 10am. It's now 2am and I'm down to 4%. I've been beating the hell out of it all day installing apps, configuring, playing mp3s, FM Radio, browsing the web, Facebook, a couple tweets/texts.
I think the battery will be just fine. Normal use with my Hero got me to ~50% every day. I expect similar when my usage pattern settles down.
with the 50% that came with the phone it lasted 3-4 hrs. after i charged it again im still on 48% after 7hrs. 2 hrs of this 7 were heavy the remaining 5 hrs were light.
i imagine if you use the phone lightly - mediocre it will last 8-12 hrs. 5-7 if use pretty heavily. but honestly i could kill my old verizon flip phone after 4 hrs of talking
got mine around 10:30am and took it home to charge immediately. it was about 1 or 2 pm that i felt it was fully charged so i unplugged it. i've pretty much been messing with it all day installing apps, browsing websites, music/video, etc. and the phone finally died a little after midnight.
i had 4g turned off from when i unplugged it and a few hours into using the phone i turned gps off. so i basically got around 9 hours of moderately heavy usage out of it.
wow, all I can say is it's all about configuration. Turn off what yer not using (gps included) and turn it on when u want to use it.
My impression so far, couple of days on one charge easily. it's all about usage, this question becomes so subjective.
ppl need to turn the screen brightness down instead of having it maxed out.
Wow cool im new to droid phones, i didnt even know you could do that... looks like the OS is eating up all the battery? Sheesh.
Bought a spare ‘OEM’ battery ‘pre-launch’ so I had it ready to go… on the charger for 24 hours before picking up the phone @ 7:30AM… placed the charged battery into the phone @ 8:00 AM EST and put the battery from the box into a charger…
First battery went from 8am – 6:00pm with fairly heavy use and then back into charger @ < 10% capacity. Spent most of that time ‘playing’ with everything I could find youtube, camera, email, etc… installed lots of apps… Thanks App Brain! A couple of phone calls… and last but not least, the MicroSD OTA update.
All the while I had the following radios turned off… GPS, Bluetooth, 4G (Rumor is November J) … WiFi was powered on as I needed to connect to a 802.1x wireless… some challenges with certificates, but the PHP method worked great! I basically replicated what these folks are doing here…
Sense UI Exchange ActiveSync support… with a ‘self signed certificate’… was a dismal failure! If anyone has some suggestions here, I’m all ears… yeah… yeah… who hosts an exchange server with a self signed cert… apparently ‘we’ do.
After 8 hours I have 80% battery left. Seidio extended, good stuff.
