I had the HTC aria for four days I LOVED the Android system, the phone itself, everything about it except... the battery. Drained on me in one day. I use this phone for work and i need to call, e-mail, text and use internet. I do quite heavily and for it to drain out on me in ONE day was REALLY disappointing. I sent the little bugger back and went back to my iphone 3g for now. I have been heavily researching other Android phones and really would like one with a great battery life ( at least two to three days). I know we are talking about a smartphone here and to get anything longer than three days is very wishful thinking.

I don't want an IPhone 4, because i really enjoy customizing and controlling my needs. No offense to Apple but there is nothing new there that impresses me really( although, I do own a mac at home). Either way, I am holding off, and I have At&t, and plan on keeping there because they have been good to me. I know At&t cripples their androids especially with the blocked third party app but I never really was concerned with that because i wasn't going to download a ton of apps to begin with, just a few. If there was an app that could increase battery life, i would certainly get that one.

I guess this just me venting, and i am hoping there will be new android phones that will not disappointment me with battery life. *sigh*

I don't know about you, but one day is actually pretty good for many of these phones under heavy use. Nut I wonder why that is so bad? Don't you charge your phone every night?

I would always hate to charge it every night but upon further research it's what most people do anyways. I also was under the impression that it was bad to do that but upon research it is not a bad thing.

Keep in mind android OSes multitask and have more processes running in the background. Dont forget the processor speed is also faster than the iphone 3G. That explains why the battery drains faster. My Nexus One also lasts about an entire full day on 1 battery pack on full charge.

Just a suggestion here... Angie16, why don't you just stick with your iPhone? It seems to suit your needs. Or get a Blackberry. My old Bb 8330 would last three days on a charge, seriously--my Evo won't last more than nine hours. What is motivating you to get an Android phone? I hope it's not hype. What motivated me to get one is that I'm completely tied into the Google system. You name it, gmail, calendar--I do Google everything so I wanted a Google phone. Well, that and I've always been partial to Linux systems. Just a suggestion.

Just wait. Verizon is the best carrier for Android, and when 4G LTE rolls around you will save more on battery life as well because you won't have to put out so much power to reach the network.

I too am tied to the Google. I have gmail, calendars etc. I do google everything.I really love the android system but battery life kills, and i understand the system drains more power. And yes, Aria was pretty snappy phone. But i am waiting it out and see what happens. I know At&t is expecting some androids in the next coming months.

Android 2.2 (aka Froyo) will improve battery life across all Android handsets. Being able to last a day with heavy use isn't that bad but then again I've always charged my phones every night.
