I've seen quite a few posts with people asking what to expect from battery life. The responses were typical... "I get __ hours and I only run this and that and such and such for so long..." but no one has posted anything yet that gives others a baseline to run with.

    ... until now.

I left my phone completely alone this weekend. No data, No calls, only one or two incoming texts... unanswered. The phone sat totally idle. How long did the battery last? 39 hours.

    so there you have it.

Completely agree! I would need to be phyically unable to touch my phone to last 39 hours with no droid. Thanks for the sacrifice fadelight!

FYI: an app called juice defender is supposed to increase battery life. It can be found in the market. I have yet to test its effectiveness but I thought it would be good info to look into. An app called juicy plots (?) Is supposed to give you some battery stats too.

Yeah, but I'll be touring all over the place, so I don't know how long I'll be away from electricity at a time.

I'm scoping out the valley and surrounding areas to get my bearings. I'll most likely be relocating this year. :D

Only 39 hours wow that was nothing. Is this for real or are you being sarcastic i can never tell now adays sorry. I am at 59 hours at 60 percent left of battery. This to me is the best phone i have ever had that performed with moderate to heavy usage and it still keeps on kicking.

Im sorry but I gotta call BS on this. There is no way that you can use this phone moderate to heavy usage for 59 hours and be at 60% without charging

Yeah, same here. With moderate use, I can squeeze two days. With heavy use, I can squeeze a full day out of it. Pretty good to me though, as long as I can get through a full day and charge it at night I'm happy.

When I don't drive my car, don't even start it, just open the doors a couple times, I get infinity miles per gallon.

I call bs on you jk. Sorry i meant like if i used it heavily(two hours of music, two hours of homerun derby online and gtalk) during the day it would keep kicking but at the end of the night i would have to charge. Would likely be around 40 percent. Right now i have gtalk running 24 hours a day and gtalk alot i mean like a little mad man. Also i take pics and play homerun derby and it still holds for two to three days. But heavy usage usually last me about a day and a half. The op said above his lasted 39 hours not doing anything i am doing stuff and it is still running. I'll let it run till it gets to 5 percent and then take a screenshot and you will see it will be around 3 days since unplugged. Also you get to see my usage so meh. Remember alot of factors need to be included like i have great coverage NYC so that plays a big factor.

EDIT: What i am saying i am using it light right now since i am working.

    lol @ 59 hours.

Are you bad at math? there aren't 59 hours in a day.

Yeah, my post was serious. Under "Heavy usage"... that is GPS tracker running and updating ever 5 seconds... typical phone/text activity, mild to moderate browsing, my battery dies in 3.5 hours, so I HIGHLY doubt you can get "Heavy" usage and still have 59 hours of battery life. It would appear from the other responses here that I'm not alone in thinking this.

Fade....you only get 3.5 hours? That's not right even with heavy usage like you described, unless it was nonstop video playback. I use Google nav every day for about 90 minutes, stream Pandora for the same amount, 30-45 minutes of phone convo, a ton of gtalk, and some browsing. I take my phone off the charger at about 7:30AM and it is usually around 15-10% when I put it back on at 8PM. I use to get horrible battery life like your describing until I took Pete's advice and wiped everything 3 times, I didn't think it would help but low and behold it did.

GPS Tracker is a battery killer, bro. It's not like normal nav... It tracks your position every 5 seconds and reports it to instamapper.com where your tracks are logged and streamed in real-time. Whenever it is on, your GPS AND Data are active 100% of the time. When I am working at night, I have it running the entire time as well as having to make phone calls and receiving texts. I get 4.5-5 hours tops.

Download it and let me know if you get any better. ;)

Whoa whoa whoa you went from 3.5 to 4.5-5 hours. We all have different opinions to what heavy usage is. You take it as running the gps and make calls. I take heavy usage as having gtalk run in the back ground listen to music for two hours and play my baseball game for a couple of hours while listening to music. I usally record videos during the day of stupid things and email them to my bud and still by the time i sleep i have around 40-50 percent left. Also ya'll need to read what i write and i Quote " I am at 59 hours at 60 percent left of battery. <--- (Period that means i am going to write something else that has nothing to do with what i just said) This to me is the best phone i have ever had that performed with moderate to heavy usage and it still keeps on kicking. <--- This is a statement that means i love this phone and can't believe it last so long even with pushing it and in no way do i specify a time in this statement. If you read what i wrote after that i kinda clarified for you people. I guess apple fanboys read what they want. :p

lol everyone here thinks you are full of crap, so you pull out the "apple fanboys" card? that is awesome... and funny... and amazing... and right up there with the immaculate conception, since I've never owned an iPhone.

I did a test a couple of weeks back but never really felt I needed to report it. Now I think I might want to. I do not know what you guys consider heavy usage. During a normal day for me my phone will get about 1-2 hours of Pandora usage, 10-20 YouTube videos (on HQ), a combined web browsing usage of probably 2 hours, and not to mention tons of texting/email and the quick and sometimes lengthy phone calls. I guess that may not be considered "heavy" usage, but on a normal day like that, I will go 10-15 hours and still be at 40-50 percent. So I can only imagine how long it would last idle with no data, no calls, and minimum texts. I would guess in the range of 50+ hours, though, I am not willing to test it. I can't leave my phone alone for even an hour.

While we are on the topic of battery life, I have a quick question that maybe someone could answer for me. I was going to start a new thread, but I guess here is good enough. I am looking to put a movie or two on my droid and was wondering how much will this kill the battery to just sit and watch a movie? I have got jury duty this week and am really getting bored just sitting there. Saw a guy watching a movie on his iTouch and it gave me the idea, but I don't want to kill my phone halfway through the day.

I didn't realize how much battery GPS tracker sucked down. You should get a extended battery.

I was getting about 10-20 hours with normal usage (I never actually timed it, just guessing). But now it is less. I recently installed Home++ and I charged my phone to 100% last night. I unplugged it just before I went to bed and when I woke up 7 hours later, it was 70%.

I think I may uninstall Home++. It is a cool app and I love the 7 home screens, but it is eating my battery up.

That sounds about right. YouTube or any other type of video playback is one of the biggest battery drainers. YouTube is even worse because your actually downloading/streaming every video you watch.
