Support battery saving apps for unrooted s4

Hi, been searching for this type of thread but the ones I saw are seem to be outdated of posts. . Please move this If I missed the same. .

Just want to ask the s4 users here.. are battery saving apps really worth? (for UNROOTED) units?? IF YES, then what are your recos?? I checked Juice Defender but it has not been updated for over a year. . .

I am trying Battery Doctor now.. its my 2nd day, but haven't seen any improvement..

I think this is my 2nd month (1x a month) of emptying my battery before charging.. (close to 2hours before full charge)

    Any thoughts please? :confused::confused:

Juice Defender PRO has worked for me. You will need to set it up but it worked wonders on my Gnex. Doing well on S4 as well.

I used to use juice defender too, but don't find the need for it on my S4. I just froze all the apps I don't need (I'll try to find the list for you) and I get very good battery life.

As a FYI, you only harm your battery by fully discharging it (and fully charging it too).
These batteries last longest (duration of battery usefulness and life, not length of charge life if that makes sense) kept between 20%-80% charge.

Unfortunately with a phone that has so many configurations, some seem to benefit while others don't and no one has the patience to run down the differences to see what's eating up what.

In my case, it serves no purpose. I have everything on and I still get 18-36 hours depending on how much gaming and desktop website (instead of mobile optimized) surfing I do.

So far totally stock as it came out if the box, I'm getting about 14 to 18 hours with fairly heavy usage. Yet I'm new to Android and have a lot to learn :)

Like zendroid, I can get 1.5 to 2 days off my battery, to as much as 2.5 days if I'm really conservative with it.

I don't use any battery saving apps on my S4 and on average get 14 to 16 hrs a day with moderate/heavy usage with on screen time over 3 hrs. Connected to Wifi for about 95% of the time. Using bluetooth for about 1 1/2 hrs. I have 3 email accts to sync every 4 hrs and over 9 widgets that update throughout the day. If you set your phone up right, you should be able to make it thru a full days usage easily.

Well said, the days of battery saving apps are over. If one learns Android v 4.2.x & up, then takes the time to use the various built in management tools, great battery life is available.

I noticed that SMS(text messaging) | internet browsing -----(for my usage) is the one keeping my battery drain the most. . . :(

I think the key is you're connected to wifi so much. If you're in an area with a weak data signal, the battery life can be dramatically impacted, depending on your use.

I'm using Juice Defender on mine, makes a huge difference for me, especially since I'm often in areas with little to no data signal. I am rooted. But I also have JD on my wife's unrooted S3 and it works great there, too.

How right you are. But I'd say that even connected to mobile signal, I get good battery life.

Where did you find this? I can't find it on my S4 and don't ever remember seeing it.
