Belkin N Router Not ConnectingSupport

I give up,... I just got the HTC Inspire 4G (AT&T) and I've been trying to connect it to my home wireless. I have a Belkin N Wireless Router v2. The router connects to my laptop, wireless desktop, and my PS3 just fine. But when I try to connect my phone to my home network, it seems to be in a loop. Keeps saying,... 'Obtaining IP address'. I've tried everything that Google, Yahoo, You Tube searches can offer. And there were a lot. None worked. More of a hassel than anything.

You will be a god if you can figure it out. Thanks.

Im not god Im an atheist, I have contacted Belkin directly they informs me that they are "not campatible with HTC" I have the latest firmware from Belkin

My Belkin Wireless N1 Connects to PCs, and other Phones, HTC Desire + Android 2.2 however does not work with this modem.

My HTC desire Z does not connect to Belkin Wireless router N1, the Belkin support claims they are "not comptabile with HTC" I do hope Android 2.3 can deal with this - its just not good enough. Android 2.1 seems to work with belkin wireless but Android 2.2 does not. Im not sure if its a software or hardware problem or both.

Samsung + Android 2.1 connects to Belkin Wireless n1
HTC desire + Android 2.2 does not ..

HTC desire + Android 2.2 does connect to other wireless modems... rather diaspointing Belkin is not connecting

I ended up buying another router which iskinda stoooooooooooopid.

Both my Aria 2.1, 2.2 and Inspire connect to my Belkin N router fine. It's a V3

Oh so it seems to be hardware related and not an android problem. HTC and Belkin N1 does not work together .. Its just not good enough imho.. My belkin is ver 2 I guess.

Belkin chat line tells me HTC android 2.2 does not work with Belkin wireless router, the helpdesk folks wrote and said the opposite recommending a static ip adress on the phone

GOOD NEWS: Using Static IP number helped.

HTC desire Z now connects to Belkin Wireless N and also The phone now connects to other routers like "Gigabyte Aircruiser Ultra N" Here is what Belkin Support Email wrote me:

    p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thank you for contacting Belkin Technical Support.

I understand that you are trying to connect HTC desire smartphone via Belkin router and I will be happy to assist you with the same.

Well, any DHCP enabled device that has the capability of taking the IP address assigned by the router will work with router with no issues.

To isolate the issue, you can assign a Static IP on the phone in the Belkin range say 192.168.2.50 i.e:

    IP address : 192.168.2.50
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway : 192.168.2.1

    Primary DNS : 4.2.2.2
    Alternate DNS : 4.2.2.1

    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How to set up static IP on your HTC phone:

    • Hit the hard menu button on your phone and then choose Settings
    • From there, browse to the Wireless controls section and then choose Wi-Fi Settings
    • Whilst in the Wi-Fi Settings section, push the hard menu button again and select Advanced
    • Press Use static IP to put a check in the box and then enter the network settings as per your own network

    Thanks Finnbjerke,

After hours of trying to fix this same problem as others, and multiple calls to Belkin and HTC, to no avail, your advice worked. the strange thing is, when I used my routers network settings it still did not work, but when I entered the settings in your post, presto I,m connected to my network.

    Thank you!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Greetings I just registered to tell all of you with belkin router issues that I solved it very easily no messing about with static ips or anything. Have had a sensation xe for about a week and spent most of that time trying to get on my wifi. my router is about 4 years old so hope this will work for some of you.
If your htc device has WPS(wi-fi protected setup) in the wireless settings enable it with the wireless on, now somewhere on the back of the router should be a small button with a padlock above it hold, that down for 5 seconds and the padlock symbol on the front will flash and then thats it you should be connected. no need to change any complicated settings. Hope this helps some of you guys out am in UK so dont know if it will be same in the US
