So I checked out all of the popular browsers, and one really stood head and shoulders above the rest on my tab. Opera mobile Miren works really well, definitely give it a shot if you have one of these :)

    Have you tried Sky Fire?

Edit: I just tried Opera Mobile and went to Engadget.com and even though I took off the mobile view in settings, it still loaded it in mobile view. Sky Fire loads in full web view.

I just hate mobile views of web sites. I know it could probably be Engadget causing this but even my Incredible loads Engadget in Desktop view. Sky Fire is the only one that loads it in Desktop mode that I have found. Itried Opera Mini as well and neither will open Engadget in Full mode. Engadget is where I found the news on the Samsung Tab so I'm a big fan.

Opera mini is a bad browser, opera mobile is fantastic. If you use this link, it will give you full engadget on any browser: http://www.engadget.com/?m=false

Actually, I just downloaded Dolphin Browser and really like it. All the pages load in Desktop after changing setting, and It looks like a real desktop browser with tabs at the top and all. You can download themes in various colors. Thanks for the tip too.

My favorite feature is swiping to the sides to get to Bookmarks and Settings. By far my favorite browser now. I also put Dolphin on my Incredible.

I noticed something wierd though. The VZW version with Dolphin opened NY Times in desktop mode but the T Mob version I have keeps opening it in Mobile. The trick above didn't work either. Any other tricks I could try? All other sites are fine. And yes I checked desktop for setting.

Sites frequently use cookies to store which "version" you're one, but clearing cookies doesn't seem to fix it either. It might be some sort of server-side storage based on your IP address, but even that seems a little odd.

As a follow-up... if you check the headers being sent by the browser (either Dolphin HD or the default web browser, even if set to "desktop" mode), you'll find an HTTP_X_WAP_PROFILE being sent. I'm not sure if this is being sent by the mobile device itself, or something that T-Mobile is attaching as it goes through their gateway (my guess is the later). Sites will frequently use this string as a secondary check to see if you're visiting from a mobile device.

I searched and saw where EVO owners were complaining about the stock browser not working with NY Times either but Dolphin HD worked for them. For what ever reason the T-Mob server must be sending something that NY Times is showing as a mobile device like you said above. I think I read where it's called Spoofing. It would be nice to find a string to add to the short cut to force Desktop.

Apparently the latest firmware update fixes this issue on the default browser so that they show in desktop mode.

How do you update the firmware on this device? Is this different then an OTA?

Edit.. Nevermind, I figured it out. Thanks.

Okay, I clicked on Keis but it makes a sound on my PC and then doesn't do anything. Is this update for a different model? Is there a trick to getting Keis to work? I shut down all programs through Task Manager.

I know Sprint had an OTA update for their model, but I haven't seen anything about a T-Mo update. Maybe I missed something?

NY Times?? Well, that could be the problem- the sensor's orientation could be grossly favoring the left ;) Rimshot! :)

The stock browser is overall the best and most compatible that I have found, but it can be slow and buggy. Opera Mobile is the best for quick and speedy browsing (Mini is nice, but Mobile basically has Mini's ability to do server side compression built in as an option, rendering Mini useless). Dolphin HD is nice due to it's extensive add-ons and customizability (Dolphin Mini seems nice, but Opera Mobile trumps it I think). I have all 3 installed, and use them for different things depending on the situation.

Skyfire is nice but the combination of Stock, Opera Mobile, and Dolphin HD really make it.....pointless.

how do i keep my htc evo 4g from going to nytimes mobile site.
Background: Ive been using my sprint phone to visit non mobile version of nytimes for over 5 months . I updated dolphin hd yesterday and now no matter if i clear everything, reset phone, reinstalled dolphin, it keeps redirecting me to mobile site. **** My wife has same phone, same plan, and it is not re-directing her. Is this something sprint does randomly?
if i use opera it goes to nytimes full site. why cant my dolphin get full site anymore?

I have a Droid X and a Samsung Galaxy Tab (T-Mobile). Both have Dolphin HD as the default browser. I'm at home and both are running WiFi through my Time-Warner cable broadband. I just checked and the Droid X gets the desktop version of NYTimes but the Tab gets the mobile version. I don't think it's anything to do with T-Mobile sending any codes since I'm running WiFi. Nothing I tried worked for getting the desktop version on my Tab. All other websites I visit with the Tab load with the desktop version.

One additional thing....even if I switch to "Android" mode on my Droid X it still loads NYTimes in desktop mode. I can't get it to load the mobile version.....go figure....

    This is indeed a mystery.....
