So it turns out, both android phones for sprint, are being sold for 99.99 at best buy for the holiday deal. Yo this is messed up fo real. What about the rest of us who payed 179.99 for this phone? Will we get refunded?? Shit if this really does happen, they better refund us the difference, or I'll be real f***ing pissed. I've been a sprint customer for way too long to put up with this bull. I mean I just bought it like a month ago, which is also around the same time it came out, and now they're already slashing the price?? WTF?!?:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I believe this falls into the category of the price one pays for grabbing something first hand off the shelves. Unless one is within their 30 day, I doubt you can get a refund on the price.

Best Buy is slashing the price, not Sprint. Best Buy can sell the phone at whatever price they want to. Sprint store, Preferred Retailers and other Sprint dealers are selling the phone for $280, then you have to send in the $100 mail-in to bring it down to $180. Best Buy is choosing to do this, so go be mad at Best Buy, not Sprint--fo real

dude, relax. Think about it.... Best Buy is selling it for $99 because there must be something wrong with the phones. (I know your thinking: what the hell man, they are selling it cheap for the holidays) but NO! if that was the reason... Sprint would lower the price too. :) just chill

Wow. I don't know if this is a real complaint but yeah price drops happen for a reason. It's not because bad phones its to sign contracts. Do you also complain when you buy a car and the price drops after a year. Plus if you bought it from best buy with in 30 days then you get the money refunded like I did.

The Hero and the Moment are both still $179.99 at Best Buy. Those who are upgrading their current contracts (who are eligible for an upgrade on a phone) are still paying $179.99. NEW Sprint customers who are switching from another carrier are paying the $99.99 price. I went to Best Buy and right next to the phone it said it very clearly. I also looked on Best Buy's mobile site and it says it very clearly. Those who did get the credit and aren't new customers were very lucky. I think is unfair that some current customers are getting the $99.99 deal and some aren't depending on who works at their local Best Buy and if they are in a good mood and allowing it. I plan on calling Sprint directly and asking for a $80 renewal credit on my bill (not directly on the phone).

Once again, BEST BUY IS SELLING THE PHONE AT THAT PRICE--NOT SPRINT! Best Buy is basically a dealer for Sprint, they can sell the phones at whatever price they want to--hell, they can give it away for FREE if they want. Sprint pays Best Buy a comission to sell their phones (just like any Sprint dealer), if the dealer wants to sell the phones cheaper--then they are cutting into their commission by selling it cheaper. I still don't understand how you are blaming this on Sprint. Why would Sprint give you an $80 credit on your bill because Best Buy lowered the price? Sprint didn't sell you the phone at that price, so why is it their problem? That's why you get terrible service from those employees at Best Buy, they know absolutely nothing about the phones--they could care less about helping you.

Hey, do you know how to read? Look at the post above you and you will find your answer. Stop asking stupid questions when the answer is above your own post.

That post wasn't there when i began to reply to this forum, if you look at the time you might have been able to come to that conclusion, but i guess telling time is not your strong suit, but being an a$$ is.

FWIW i went back to bb and they gave me the deal, so i guess it depends on who you talk to.

BTW if you don't have anyhting helpful to post other than sarcastic post then why bother.

I don't see it this way. I believe the $99 price point is because the Droid Eris is $99. Of course, that logic breaks down because the $99 Eris price is for new OR upgrade, where Sprint's $99 Hero price is just for new lines. I went in to add a line and to upgrade another, but ended up not doing the upgrade since I hope we'll see drops from the $179 price in a bit.

If there were moderators that deleted threads and were active in this forum, then there wouldn't be a need for sarcasm. If the guy would check his post, he would have seen that. There are a LOT of repeated threads in this forum.

I think you misunderstood. I know this has nothing to do with Sprint. If you read my post it said "I think is unfair that some current customers are getting the $99.99 deal and some aren't depending on who works at their local Best Buy and if they are in a good mood and allowing it." (I was speaking about what is going on from Best Buy to Best Buy and depending on who the customer asks they might be able to get the price of $99.99 instead of $179.99). I didn't mention anything about comparing the Sprint price to the Best Buy price.

Also I am not asking Sprint to refund me the $80 because of the Best Buy price. If you read my post AGAIN it said "(not directly on the phone)". Sprint offers contract renewal discounts of $80 depending on your account standing and history. Thus, I would essentially be getting the phone for $99.99. I am not complaining about the price of the phone to them. I am asking them for a discount as a loyal customer that is renewing my contract, which they do at retentions. Sometimes they offer renewal credits so I will give it a try.

And as far as the service of Best Buy employees, my local mobile squad is very knowledgeable about all their phones. I can't say the same for my local Sprint store.

I think you need to fully read posts before replying to them and talking down to the original poster.

Also, it seems as though it should be the other way around. The loyal sprint customers (such as myself) should be the ones getting the $99 dollar deal since we have been with them for years. Idk though..I guess cooden is right to some extent. I'm just finding it hard to believe they would drop the price of a phone that has only been out in the USA about 2 months, but then again we are in a recession so nothing surprises me really..

There is nothing WRONG with the PHONES.

It has NOTHING to do with Sprint.

If you are real nice and get the RIGHT person on the phone at Sprint and are either due for an upgrade or a long time customer looking for the Hero, you can request a competitive price match. I have done this and been both unsuccessful and successful(other phones). If you are within your 30 days you can get a price match at BB. If you just want to argue, you can ask for management if beyond the 30 and take a shot at getting some sort of satisfaction.

That said, I have to agree with the statement above saying we wanted it first, now we have to grin and bear it...

I bought my Hero at Best Buy primarily due to the instant rebates. Been with Sprint too long and last phone took me almost 7 months to get my rebate $, so, I won't buy a phone from them again. I got my Hero at $179(BB) and then returned to the store with the $129 coupon (within 30 days) and they refunded $50 on the spot. $129 was great deal and I am happy... The 31st day brought the other coupon/site associated with Best Buy selling the phone @ $99, but you know what... to each his own. I felt the equipment was worth the $179 and was ecstatic with the $129. I believe the $99 is a competitive price war with retailers trying to grab customers, simple... So if you waited and exercised patience, now you benefit. Wait another 6 months and you might get it for $50 bucks... Next year, for FREE!

    Nuff said...

    :)

Are you suggesting that we delete this thread? Are you suggesting that the staff are not doing their job. I do not see it either way. The original poster posted a legitimate question, in his opinion. You responded in kind. it was when you started flaming a member by calling them stupid and being confrontational that is rasing an eyebrow. So Cool It.

As for the topic at hand, yes its frustrating for those that bought the phone at a higher price and that BB is now selling it at a cheaper price which Sprint themselves are not matching. But that is the nature of the game. It has nothing to do with the phone being bad, in fact its a hot seller for Sprint at the moment. Be it through them or third party outlets like BB.

If i had the option too, I would wait until my contract is done and cancel the account. Then go to best buy and start a new account with sprints 2 year contract to get the phone for 99 dollars.

I was one of the ones that bought the Phone through BB.com, called Sprint first to see if I could get a price match but no go. I saw that the price changed to 99.99 on that Sunday( which was two days later) I called BB up and they said sorry but it's not really BB, but a third party and they don't have to price match. I didn't take that for an answer and finally got consumer relations involved. Long story short: BB is sending 80.00 gift card and Sprint is giving me a 50.00 credit for keeping the service. Companies don't want to lose customers and with the recession they are willing to do what it takes to keep them.

I ALMOST paid the $279.99 this past Friday (with the stupid mail in rebate that takes for ever) for the hero at the sprint store where I opened my account. I saw the BB promo and took my instinct back to the sprint store, called BB and asked if I could get the hero there for the $99.00 as I had only been a sprint customer for 2 days and they allowed it. They put it into the system as adding a line but still allowed the promo price. I think if you are still within the 30 days, they might allow you to return your phone and get give it to you.

I had to get another new number, but heck I'd only had my new sprint # for over a day.

I think it's an awesome deal!!!

(PS - It said on the BB website that it's an online deal only, but they are also doing it in stores)
