K9 mail is ok, not great but probably the best around at the moment unless someone can direct us towards something better. (I want more than one yahoo pop account to sync).

I doubt there are many that will allow you to search your existing mailbox. generally if you set up pop or imap mail, it just receives emails AFTER it is set up (like outlook does).

This is the good thing about gmail because if you use the gmail app, you can search the entire mailbox because its logging you into your actual account rather than intercepting the emails once set up. Generally though, this is how an email client will work so unless theres something amazing I dont know about, you're stuck with it.

K9 mail is far better than the stock app. It lets you choose how many emails you want to display from each folder (using IMAP). I can view emails which I received long before I started using the app.
