Hi guys! I'm a newbie here and of course my first post is a problem.

On Father's Day, my kids gave me a Plantroics stereo Bluetooth set like this:

I commute by train and like to listen to Pandora or Audible and the wireless stereo headphones worked great with my Blackberry Tour.

Two days ago I got the Evo and now I can't get my headset to work with any apps. The only thing they are good for is talking on the phone but I can't get them to work with any media players.

I hope I'm just a newb who is just doing something wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Dave

I'm not familiar with Plantronics devices, but you may need to clear out the old phone/music player/whatever that was paired with your headset first, then pair the EVO with it. Check the Plantronics documentation for details on how to unpair your headset, if any. You may have to look online, as most "quick start" manuals tend to leave out a lot of helpful info :(

You also might try unpairing and repairing your headset on the EVO: Home>Menu>Settings>Wireless and Networks>Bluetooth Settings. Long press on your headset and select Unpair. Then pair again.

I would try both of these and start pairing again from scratch.

    Hope this helps.

I deleted the device from my Evo and reinstalled it and that did the trick. Thanks for the help!

FYI this happens every so often after I re-sync my Bluetooth headset.

To fix this from happening in the future go into your Bluetooth settings, press and hold on the Bluetooth device in the list. A menu will popup, select settings. In the settings menu disable using the device for the phone. From now on it will always sync for media. For some reason if you leave both phone and media enabled it likes to sync and only work on the phone.

Also - how is your bluetooth reception? Mine is awful. Makes me wonder if my phone is defective.

My old Samsung I could walk almost anywhere in the house and get only minor distortions. With my Evo I have to make sure its in my right pocket and I still get interference. If its in my left pocket I get constant cutting in and out. Its insanely bad.

Really annoying. Everything worked fine after I got the phone, but all of a sudden music control on the headset just stopped working. As of now, the only media player I'm able to get to work with the headset controls is doubleTwist.

Made a thread about this exact issue a few weeks ago.

Tried this tip but it did not work. Do I need to restart the phone for it to stick? Also, with this setting, are you now unable to use the headset for calls?

So glad i'm not the only person who thinks the bluetooth reception is f'ed on this phone. I couldn't walk my damn dogs without having to hold the f'ing phone up to my neck for it to not clip... I thought it was just me or maybe the powerlines I was walking under. I'm making a new thread to get to the bottom of this hopefully.
