I own a pawn shop, and last month bought a mytouch slide. Sold phone on ebay, and now a month later the buyer states that the little bird screen comes up every 5 mins, and t-mobile stated that means the phone was stolen, as it was a demo model?

Does anyone have anyway to get rid of this screen??

sounds like it was and he, as a pawn broker, bought stolen property which is of course illegal then turned around and sold it, even more illegal! No slide champion (tmo's slide experts/sales reps) would sell his champion unit at a pawn shop tmo would know about it and fire their ass, so yes it was in fact stolen.

When i buy something I am required to take ID, hold it for 10 days, ETC... I did my part so nothing illegal here.. I dont understand what a slide champion is, I also called tmobile and they stated they have never heard of anything like this before, and to have the buyer bring it in under the 1 year warranty for replacement. I am not doing anything illegal, i buy/sell and take all necessary paperwork, so please dont start this off calling me a thief, or as portraying me as doing something illegal, it is not appreciated.....

Champion slides were given out to selected tmo employees before the phones launch they ran an engineering release of the slides software and were ysed to train slide "champions" on the ins and outs of the device. Your CSR may well not know anything about it as champions were a select few (one person each from most stores) and they are mostly managers.

So If it was this "champion" than wiping it and loading new software would fix it?

Btw chill out man! That wasnt a personal artack. No one called you anything. Here are the facts:

    You recieved stolen property=FACT
    You sold stolen property=FACT

Also i happen to think you were a victim here too but it's still WRONG and i must say, your hyper defensive reaction paints you as a typical pawn broker for better or worse. Of course I don't know you at all and you may be an upstanding guy but most pawn brokers are not.

They (phones) are tracked by imei numbers like serial numbers and no custom rom will change that unique number, however, they could try to get root and flash a custom rom but that likely won't help...but worth a shot.

OP - I just got off the phone with one of my buddies that works for T-Mobile and he said that the ONLY phones that would do that are some of the in-store demos.

He also said that the Champion (phones tested by employees) would not do this.

He did say that if you Root it and flash a custom ROM that the "video" would be gone. It does however, appear that the phone was stolen at some point prior to it arriving in your pawn shop though :(

***All of this is according to a personal friend of mine who works for T-Mobile***

Awsome! Thanks for that info/tip! At the store I use (my bro works there) the champion unit was their demo unit so I assumed it to be the same at all stores, as the champions were the only working units at the local stores. I didn't know there were nonchampion demos I stand corrected.

Ouch, you guys kinda jumped on the poor guy. I'm sure as a pawn shop owner he follows the rules and regulations as he stated. I bet everyone that pounced on him commits your own little illegal acts, like downloading torrents or something else illegal that you view as okay, but when you do it, its perfectly fine right?

Lets not be hypocritical people. The poor guy is also on here looking for a resolution for his buyer, he could have very well said "tuff luck" to his buyer "all sales are final."

Give the guy a break and help him, if you can't offer help, then don't comment.

Oh your brother works there, T-mobile, interesting? does he ever get you any discounts, maybe credits on your cell phone, oh maybe reverse activation fees for you, or reverse upgrade fees, you know, something that T-mobile would frown upon. Chances are, you have at least benefited once from your brother working at T-mobile, and I'm sure whatever that benefit was, T-mobile would have frowned upon it.

Not trying to put you on the spot or call you out, but the truth is no human is an angel. Lets not assume he is a criminal buying stolen goods, I doubt you or anyone on this forum follows the rules and laws 100 percent of the time. Of course except me, I never break the law, I don't even go 1 mph over the speed limit ever. I also follow the 10 commandments, and do everything the bible tells me to. I'm the perfect human being. I found 10 cents on the ground 5 yrs ago, I'm still searching for its rightful owner.

:) I'm just being silly to try and prove a silly point, no hard feelings.

I didnt mean to come off all extra defensive, but it was my FIRST post, and already it seemed like you were attacking me.... I am doing everything i can to help the guy who bought the phone, if i KNEW it was stolen i never would have bought it, as i do NOT run your "typical" pawnshop

So sorry for that, and thanks for the kind words htcevo...

Anyway, back to the matter at hand, ok so we think phone was stolen, but whats done is done... So how can we fix this, if i have him ship it back to me, can someone help me to root/rom the phone? I am a PC tech also, so ive done the unlocking/jailbreaking, on those "other" phones LOL, I also have an android based phone, so i know the OS ok....

Lol...man don't I wish! He won't do anything for me in fact all of my last three phones were given (yes given) to me by csr's over the phone and the most recent was given to me by tmo executive response so the average tmo employee has hooked me up more than my bro. And just as a matter of fact tmo frowning on something is not at all the same as every state in our country saying that trafficking stolen goods is illegal wether you knew it was stolen or not.
