Is there any themes or apps to make the top status bar black? I don't want to root just yet. I'm still running 1.6 firmware

The correct answer is: you can have any color status bar you want, you can even have one with designs.....but you have to be rooted

Is there anyway to do it without meta-morph? (With root)

If I'm not mistaken, the only other way to do it is to edit the .dex file, which I am not familiar with how to do

Yes, you can adb pull the framework file and edit whatever you want in there, then adb push it back.

    It should be:
    Code (Text):
    1. adb pull system/framework/framework-res.apk Where\ever\you\want\it
    Edit the files then,

    Code (Text):
    1. adb push Where/ever/the/file/is/located system\framework\
If you have a sense phone there are a few extra icons that can't be changed by the framework file. Such as 3G, Signal, Power management widget background, etc.

That file is located in system/framework.

    So:

    Code (Text):
    1. adb pull system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk Where\ever\you\want\it
    And then:

    Code (Text):
    1. adb push Where/ever/the/file/is/located system\framework\
    Hope this helps :)

Edit: I have only tested this on a rooted Incredible with a stock 2.1 rom. So it may or may not work, although it should.
