Blocking incoming texts?

Hello,

I'm wondering if it's possible to block my phone from receiving incoming texts through VZW. I'm using GV for texting and want to completely drop my texting plan but also don't want to get hit with loads of texts coming to the wrong number. Is there just a way to prevent incoming texts altogether?

Obviously, I plan to send out a couple of "notices" of the change of number BUT you know how some people are...they just won't change the number and forget by the next time they try to text me...LOL (well sort of!) I don't want to pay per text. That could get expensive FAST!

You can have VZW block it. Not sure if it's an extra charge though.

There's no charge to block txts. But it does block all of them -- in and out -- including the ones from VZW for usage and balance etc.

Can I block Text, Pix and Flix messages? Yes. Call Customer Service at (800) 922-0204 to add "VBLOCK", which will allow you to block those messages.

Does anyone know what the sender gets if they send a text to a blocked number? Will they at least know the text wasn't delivered?

Yup, the person who is blocked will receive a text to inform them they can no longer text you.
