Blue Screen Glitch With HTC RezoundSupport

    Okay, so I have Verizon's HTC Rezound, and have had to replace my original phone due to it dying and it never turning on again after I charged it.

    So I got a replacement! The replacement however will randomly glitch with a blue screen and will spaz between that and a double version of my current screen. If I turn off my screen and return it on, my screen goes back to normal. I have done a factory reset already and that did not help the issue.

    Because it is an easy fix I am not sure if I should replace it again, however I am worried that this is just a larger problem that could eventually crash my phone. I really don't know what is causing it or why it is happening.

    Can anyone give me some insite, like why it is happening or how I can fix it? Or even better, should I just get yet another replacement? Thanks!

    (Btw, I talked to a rep in a Verizon store; he said the refurbs are just bad and it's better to just get a whole new phone, which the only way I can do that is by opening a new line for $10. According to him at least.)

    Well you can always get a new phone so lets think about this. It is either a hardware problem or a software problem. First I would assume a software issue.

    Did you install any apps right before this started or did any auto update?

    Take an inventory of all apps that you installed. Uninstall them. Now do a complete factory hard reset. Maybe do it 2-3 times. Next do not install anything that is not factory original from the reset. Not even from an auto backup or the cloud. Download an anti virus, I like avira or lookout. Run it and look for any root issues. If clear, start reloading your apps one at a time and see if the phone stays stable.

    If this does not fix the issue I would then get a new phone since I can't fix the hardware. So many times it is a software issue and folks blame the hardware. Many times its a couple of conflicting apps that causes the problem.

    Finally, never believe the verizon rep.

    Same thing happened to my Rezound. It only seemed to happen when I was using the phone app. I got another replacement and it's fine. (Except the jacked up one was actually a replacement, and that issue never got resolved. Goes back and forth from 4G to nothing intermittently.)

    I had the exact same issues with my Rez that I got after 3 Tbolts. Store rep said it was a software issue. Now I'm on my 3rd Rez and so far so good. Funny how we Android folks put up with a lot of BS with these phones. I have a friend with an Iphone 3 and has had it for a couple years, with no issues. She can pull a youtube vid while my fab 4G Rez is still trying to load it. Just pisses me off.

    So a rep told you to open a new line for 2 years because they wouldnt resolve your problem? I would immediately demand to speak to a manager! That is downright robbery.

    zazan has some good advice I'd try that, if it doesn't work go find that rep and hang him up by the short and curlies, then get a phone that works. I don't trust refurbs but I'd say in my experience about 75% of them are fine, and if they ever mention that I need to open a line to get a discounted phone because they won't resolve my issue I calmly mention the BBB and ask to talk to their boss.

    @chefster, I dislike apple but if that is truly your experiance why would you keep getting the same brand of phone? I love my HTC phones but I've had good luck with them, same with MOTO if I didn't I would change in a heartbeat. If a 3g is smoking your Rezound something is terribly wrong with that phone.

    Not necessarily. If you are in a fringe zone, it can switch back and forth, which takes time. Happens to me all the time. In a better location, I can load a STANDARD video in 1/10th the time of any iPhone. But an HQ movie might take much longer, say for example, if the video is only available in 1080 or 480. iPhone will default to 480, Rezound to 1080.

    Did you have a screen protector? Was it only while in-call? I had a somewhat similar problem with my Eris and Skinomi. If I pulled the phone away from my ear because the person on the end was loud, the screen protector would trip the proximity sensor intermittently and black out rapidly, and the homescreen would sometimes be unlockable for a minute after hanging up. I repositioned the protector and it was fine ever since. I had too much debris under the edges... first time using a wet-application protector back then.
