Bluetooth overriding another connection to UE Boom

I-O-What?
My wife and I both have LG G5s. We also have a UE Boom that we use all the time. It's getting painful now though...
If she turns on the speaker, both of us connect. That's expected. She plays music, but as soon as my phone makes a noise (IE notification), it stops the other one. And vice versa. It's not disconnected, it's just not playing sound. You can then go back to my wife's phone, hit pause, then play and it goes again.
I know our G3s didn't act like this because we would play music at the same time sometimes... I'm pretty sure this is specific to the G5. My Nexus Tablet and my buddy's iPhone work fine (like our G3s did).
Anyone else seeing anything like this?
