Help Buying an Android phone in the UK or US and use it in another country

Hi there,

I was just wondering if it is possible to buy an Android phone in the UK or perhaps US and then use it in for example Denmark where there are no Android phones available from any of the carriers.

Will I for example be able to get the updates for the system and will I be able to buy apps like it is possible to do in US and UK now??

I really hope you are able to help me since I am seriously thinking about buying an unlocked Android phone.
However, if the phone cannot be used before a carrier decides to offer android phones I guess I need to have patience...
