Well i got the eris and a droid for me and my girl 2 weeks ago and I turned her eris in for another droid from amazon.com... (Cant beat it for 109.00 shipped with no rebates). But I will say the eris is a good phone but not great.... we had a host of problems with it.. nothing relating to software or the android system, but I believe that in the effort to make a cheaper device HTC cheeped out on some components. Like the Bluetooth and wifi.. I had intermittent issues with them both, they would work and not work, and the wifi was hard to get functioning. The two biggest problems though were the microphone/speaker and the radio (antenna/reciever for phone calls) They both Sucked horribly. I would always have 1 to 2 less bars then my droid, and 1x was not-uncommon to have when I had 3G on my droid.. Then the constant static and dropped calls was annoying. She did live in a far out area, and its understandable for this to happen sometimes, but there is no reason for static and for us to be talking and a whole half of the conversation be missed.. no faint or quiet, but there was just no voice passed over.. and this happened no matter where she was (Except real close to a cell tower) and with land line and cell phones. But those things may have just been a little issue with her phone and where she lived. But the eris is a great phone and as far as the price point and competitors it is a great buy. My mom is getting a eris for free when my dad buys a moto droid tomorrow. It was reasonably fast and the touchscreen was great, sense is awesome and the android system of course was good.. it needs to be updated to 2.01 or 2.1, but it was good enough. All in all, we are keeping the android system, just upgrading.. I love the droid and i liked the eris, but for $100 i couldnt pass up a moto droid.. for the price point of sub $80 smartphones, the eris is one phone that cant really be beat.
