    Hello...

I'm going to ask a SHORTENED version of my question FIRST because, as I was typing out my thorough explanation below, I realized that I had SEEN A SETTING that I believe fixes my problem but I CANNOT REMEMBER where it is or how to get to it!!!

In short, the problem I am having is that NON-recurring events (one time appointment) that are in the Google Calendar online are NOT SHOWING in the Moment calendar app.

There was a SETTINGS PAGE...not sure if it was in the main OS menu or the Calendar menu...that gave you the option of choosing to show events "BEFORE" a certain date and to show events "AFTER" a certain date. You repeatedly tap the two "before" or "after" options and the dates would move further back in time and further forward in time respectively. NON-recurring events, obviously, continue to show for years prior or in the future but NON-recurring ONE-time events outside of a "range" of a time period do NOT SHOW. Does ANYONE know what the setting I am referring to and how to get back to it??

If NOT, perhaps my more thorough explanation of my problem and what i am trying to accomplish below might help me find the display before this date/after this date setting that I cannot find again!!

    THANK YOU!!

    (longer explanation/description follows below)

    -----------------------------

I'm posting this in the Moment forum because we have a Moment and an EVO and we are BOTH new to Android...but I have ONLY been having the problem with our Moment.

Though we are new to Android and the gmail sync, I am very comfortable with the sync process and working with Google Calendar online or on the phone and the settings for forcing a sync, choosing which calendars to display, etc.

I did some troubleshooting of the problem and THIS is what I have figured out...WEIRD!!!...here goes:

It appears that the calendar on the Moment is ONLY showing RECURRING EVENTS...birthdays, anniversaries...ANYTHING where the event is set to recur some time in the future.

The non-recurring events...a random party, a random doctor's appointment does NOT show on the Moment Calendar app!!

I prefaced my issue with being comfortable and familiar with the Google calendar operation because I am CERTAIN that the events are in the Google Calendar online. If I change the one-time event to a yearly recurring event and force the phone to sync then WHAM BAM the now RECURRING event shows in the Moment calendar app. REMOVE the recurrence and go back to the one-time doctor appointment, sync, and WHOOSH, disappears again!!

The other odd thing is that "old" NON-recurring events that have ALREADY PASSED do seem to continue to show on the Moment calendar app for about a month. In other words, stuff back to about a month from today (today 7/20) DOES SHOW even if non-recurring but anything older than a month does NOT show.

Now I can UNDERSTAND why if you had a doctor's appointment on May 20, 2010, that that even should NOT appear on EITHER your Google Calendar online OR your Moment calendar app for May 20, **2011** because that doesn't make sense. HOWEVER, it DOES make sense and IS IMPORTANT to be able to go back to May 2010 and ask, "what day was that appointment with so-and-so company??" and you scroll back in your calendar to see the name of the company or "In February, 2010, did our son or daughter see the doctor?? and you scroll back a few months to see that your son and not your daughter went.

The Google Calendar online does NOT automatically purge older events...they are ALL VISIBLE online back YEARS AND YEARS. Why is the Moment "purging"/not displaying non-recurring events on the phone that are in a range of about 1 month old to about to happen in a month?? Is anyone else having this problem??

    THANK YOU!

    Scott

I'm not sure if I know of those settings.
I also have this issue with not being able to go back more than a month on my calendar. I believe this started with 2.1. I found this link a couple months ago Issue 3672 - android - Calendar app won't sync events older than 1 month - Project Hosting on Google Code and went down to comment #66 to fix my issues with my calendar only going back 1 month. It works and I can now see my calendar again. Sorry if I wasn't any help as I am new here. Take care!

    Hi Indychic...

AMAZING coincidence but I was in this forum looking for a reply to my issue above a few minutes ago. Went to google to search elsewhere for a fix and found the EXACT ISSUE 3672 in a search and read through that thread. Then came back here to see your post and suggestion!!

I am NOT having the same problem you all are experiencing because my sync DOES work ealier than one month. The issue I have as I mentioned above is that as I was typing my issue I suddenly realized that I **KNOW** I saw a menu/setting just before I posted and I CANNOT get back to it!!! ALL my recurring events are viewable on the phone back (and forward) YEARS but I zipped through a setting that allowed me the choice to "see events before XXX date" and "see events after XXX date" and got out of that screen and NOW realize I need to get back to it.

I understand your issue and sorry I cannot help with that. I'm also sorry if I might have confused you with the "cannot go back more than about a month" because that "1 month" is not FINITE with my issue. If the setting page that I am trying to find was set to "see events before February 2010" then I would have been able to see old events back FIVE months.

    Good luck...

    Scott

Gotcha! ;) No problem.. Sorry I can't help.
I know that the google page I linked did help me with my problem a couple months ago so maybe it will help someone else. As far as a setting I haven't a clue... however, there are a bunch of fantastic and very knowledgeable people on these boards who I know will help you quickly and will know exactly where that settings is. Take care!

stock calendar wasn't doing it for me.
look for "calendar pad" in the market. much more user friendly IMO.

It's not just the stock calendar that is the problem, it is the SETTING affecting the stock app AND other 3rd party apps. I have the Jorte calendar installed and IT TOO will NOT display non-recurring events before or after a date range that I SOMEHOW set on the phone with the Calendar app.

Do you, nismospec, or ANYONE have any idea how I get to this setting that I can't seem to find again??

    Thanks!!

It's under settings/accounts and Synch settings/ Manage accounts/ click on your gmail account and make sure everything is checked.

Thanks Stoney62 but, nope, do NOT think that that's it! :-( I am familiar with that sync settings area...went to it just a while ago. The "everything is checked" is/was already checked. I even turned them on/off and got out of the page for good measure. The ONLY thing that settings page seems to do is just turn ON/OFF the sync for contacts, email and/or calendar.

I'm STILL wondering what that SPECIFIC settings option page shows up where it specifically mentions showing events BEFORE XXXX date and AFTER XXXX date. If that settings page that I am looking for is in that sync settings page you mentioned, I MISSED IT!! Can you direct me to what I'm looking for??

If not, anyone else have any idea where I should find the settings I described? VERY FRUSTRATING that I cannot find it...I KNOW I saw it!!

    Thanks...

Is it perhaps online at the Google Website in Calendar Settings Labs tab?
If not, IDK. There's a greyed out (Appointments Synch range) setting in calendar settings that appears to be for synching exchange.

No, no...thanks but we're getting off base here. It is DEFINITELY in the phone as a PHONE setting! Sorry if I wasn't clear WHERE I saw it before!
