    I have a strange problem with HTC Sync.
    I have an HTC Desire software number 2.10.161.2, Android Version 2.2.
    The HTC Sync software on my laptop is firmware 2.10.161.2 CL229389 release-keys

    Since my phone upgraded to the latest version of software, I have been having problems with HTC Sync.

    If I enter a new event on my PC through Outlook 2007 (12.0.6539.5000) SP 2 MSO (12.0.6535.5002) and then sync with the phone the event appears on the phone.

    If I enter a new event on the phone and then sync, it does not appear on Outlook.

    The event entries are being entered on the phone in the PC sync Calendar.

    I am a bit baffled by this, :confused: can anyone help?

    Thanks

    Dave

    OK I have solved this now.
    What I did was:

    1. Click Menu button;
    2. Select Applications;
    3. Select Manage Applications;
    4. Select HTC Sync;
    5. Select Uninstall.
    Once the Application was uninstalled, I plugged the phone back into my PC and HTC sync automatically re-installed on the phone.
    My Calendar is now up to date and I have about 50 warnings about meetings I have missed.
    I am Happy :).
    PS I am not an expert, you follow these instructions at your own risk!

    Hi,
    Worked for me - but only once!!!
    Next synch does not synch calendar entries I have entered in my phone with my PC.
    Deleting HTC Synch again fixes the problem for the next synch only.
    Anyone know of a permanent fix?
    davecuthbert - same for you?

    I gave up on HTC Sync for calendar entries though I still use it for contacts.
    i use Google Calendar Sync on my work and home PC and it works a treat.
    Advantages - No need to connect with a USB cable. Works on multiple PCS - unlike HTC Sync.

    Hi Jeffers,
    It worked for me and continues to, for which I am grateful.
    Sorry it stopped working for you, not sure what that is about.

    Glad to see its not just me - driving me mad. Tried the uninstall trick but no difference. I'll try it once more, then install the Google Calendar Sync for a test. I only need to sync calendar anyway.
    Will post result, but in the meantime can none of the high-tec boys come up with an explanation??

    Back to the drawing board, it has stopped working again. Demndest thing isn't it?
    Why should it update the phone with calendar entries put into Outlook but not put the phone ones into Outlook?????

    I gave up on HTC Sync for these reasons. I can thoroughly recommend replacing it with MyPhoneExplorer which is free, doesn't corrupt contacts and unlike HTC Sync works on multiple PCs.
    Can also recommend Google Calendar Sync for cloud based calendar syncing.
    More information (including a new forum) on syncing here:
    Home | syncdroid.net - because Androids need a good Outlook sync

    I've resorted to using google calendar sync. I've tried to avoid it but have given up on htc sync, which is sad.

    It really does cause all sort of problems. Did you take a look at MPE?

    Nice idea, Dave.
    Sadly it worked just for the first sync after reinstalling.
    So I am going to operate 2 calendars on the phone, one just for appointments taken while on the phone and then registering them manually on Outlook.
    I am rally fed up with this inadequate functioning of HTCSync. Are we testing a beta version?
    I am not a great friend of Microsoft, but Google is on the same way with Android, forcing people to quit MS applications like Outlook.
    Cheer up everybody!

    As I said above, I have resorted to google mail to sync my mail with and have now tried My Phone Explorer, which I have to say is awesome. :) It is much better than HTCsync.

    I'm not sure its exactly the same problem but there is a thread running in the Google support forums that may be of interest:

    Outlook does not sync with events entered to Google calendar via mobile device - Calendar Help

    You can check to see if you have the same problem by looking at the events synced from your phone to Google calendar and check to see if you appear in the guest list. You shouldn't, and if you delete yourself from the guest list, the event then syncs correctly with Outlook etc. It has to be a bug.

    My posting is:
    I too have exactly the same problem. I use an HTC Desire and Outlook 2007 under Windows 7. My calendar syncs fine from my phone to Google Calendar, and from Google Calendar to Outlook using Google Calendar Sync. For events created in Google Calendar this all works. However, events created on my phone sync to Google Calendar but have my name appearing as a Guest (I have no idea why!) and these events do NOT sync to Outlook. If I delete myself from the Guest List for this event, then it syncs correctly with Outlook.
    This means I cannot rely on events created on my phone.

    Cliff
